I had acne in all of my teenage years and I am now twenty. Last summer my boyfriend finally convinced me to try proactive because I was having a bad break out and felt completely hopeless. I had used the prescriptions Differin gel and Prascion cleanser (smells horrible)but they just never worked for me. Anyways, the day after I tried Proactive I did notice and immediate difference but thought it was just coincidence.
After using the product for the entire summer and beginning of this fall, I realized I finally found something that worked. On the other hand, I thought that the price was a little much so I looked into alternatives and couldn't find anything similar at the drugstore apart from Acnefree.
I didn't really want to try Acnefree at first because my best friend told me that it "sucks." Well, after using it for about a month my skin has stayed exactly the same and completely clear of blemishes.
The only thing that I'm not sold on with Acnefree is the texture of the facial cleanser. It is extremely smooth and does not exfoliate, unlike Proactiv. In the past week I have decided to keep a little bowl of salt by my sink and I just dip my fingers in it and rub it into the cleanser on my face. I think its more of a psychological thing but it just makes me feel good to have the roughness.
Also, if you look at the ingredient label you will find some minor differences in ingredients and percentages. I was worried about this at first but I really think that the main thing that you need is Benzoyl Peroxide. My skin has really responded well to it.

I'm 13 and i dont have HORRIBLE acne but i still am self concious about it. My mom and i were in a make-up store and looking at acne products and we saw "AcneFree" we decided to try it because it was only $20 and we had nothing to compare it to. Ive been using the system for about 3 weeks and i like if so far.
THE CLENSER: the clenser does smell kind of funky but hey it is suposed to clear acne not smell like a rose. Ive learned (the hard way) that this does not take of make up and should npt be use near the eyes. the consistency was creamy and after washing my face it was sort of cooling.
THE TONER: I have had no problems with the toner. It has never bleached anything....maybe im just lucky. It does work because sometimes you can see the dirt/oil that the clenser missed on the cotten pad after you use it.
THE LOTION: I have noticed that it is a little gritty, but it doesnt bother me. when i use it in the morning i wait a little for the lotion to sink in then wipe off the little white gritty things. The first few times i used it it did dry out my skin a little, but that has stopped.
Overall i think it works well. I too woke up after 2 days with very minimal acne but it didnt last. THe stuff also works under the skin so at first i got really big gross pimples in places i had never gotten acne before, but then they stopped. i dont break out as much and if i do th pimples are very small. My skin has also become more even since using "AncneFree". my skin is alomst all one color.....no more blotchiness!!!!! =) Im going to keep using this product and see what other wonders it could do for me!

I am in my mid 20s and have struggled with mild/moderate acne most of my life but recently I've noticed my acne getting worse (cystic acne, etc.). I was desperate to find something that would clear up my face. I tried Proactiv in college and found it to be mostly a waste of money. It didn't really clear my face up any better than anything I could've bought over-the-counter. So this time around, I tried everything (Clean&Clear, Nuetrogena, Clearasil, and other name brand products). I tried washing my face a million times a day as well as wearing no make-up. Nothing worked and I was getting pretty frustrated and broke. Then, I saw AcneFree for $20 in my local Rite Aid and thought I would give it a shot. When I got home I read all the reviews I could find about it on the internet and had mixed feelings about trying it because they were equally positive and negative. I started using it as directed and at first I didn't see much of a change. After the first week though, all of my old flare-ups were drying out and I had no new pimples. By the second week, I had absolutely perfect skin. I am sooo happy to report I haven't had a single pimple in a month now. A WHOLE MONTH!! Ever since I started using AcneFree, I forget if I even put make-up on or not because my skin is so perfect. This product works better than anything else. My one recommendation is that you need to give it time for it to work. When I first started using it, I almost gave up on it because I didn't see immediate results. As a person who is in his mid-late 20's who has struggled with acne for most of my life, I have some information that may be useful as I have researched and tried everything, including prescriptions.
If a person is sensitive to Benzoyl Peroxide, you should not use this product. With all Benzoyl Peroxide products, it will irritate the skin of anybody sensitive to it. This doesn't exactly mean that you have sensitive skin, but that you are sensitive to this medication. You would also have this problem with other over the counter medications containing this drug.
Now to the good stuff.
Read and follow the instructions. Step 1 is the cleanser, so massage it into your face and wash it off. Step 2 is the toner, so apply it with a cotton PAD (not a BALL). After the toner has dried, apply step 3 with another cotton pad in a LIGHT layer.
Now for the final step which is on the step 3 bottle as a recommendation. I'd actually consider this a requirement. USE AN SPF MOISTURIZER. I use Neutrogena's oil-free moisturizer with SPF-15. This is going to greatly reduce any redness and dryness. You will probably be sorry if you do not use a moisturizer with this as Benzoyl Peroxide is very drying and irritating. The step 3 lotion is not a moisturizer.
Again, read and follow the instructions and use a moisturizer. I can only speak from experience, but following this method will give you the most amount of effectiveness and the least amount of side effects.

I did not use the product on myself but on my boyfriend. He had blood cyst pimples over his entire back for 15 years (since puberty). He has tried many medications, topical and pill, but everything irritated him. We did not want to spend the money on ProActiv, so a friend recommended this product. He used the soap twice a day, and I applied the toner and lotion after each shower. We did not see immediate, overly obvious results in a week. The results came gradually but steadily. After using the product for over two months nonstop, his back was almost completely acne free. He went from having over 40 blood cysts that would infect and stain his shirts and the bed to having maybe 2 or 3 pimples at a time. Even his mother was amazed with the results when she saw him after several months. He said his skin did itch if he did not have the lotion applied properly on his skin. A result of applying acid to your skin is that the skin dries out. We had to make sure that he always had plenty of lotion applied to his skin. After 6 months, we stopped using all three steps. He now only uses the soap (purifying cleanser) once a day, and he has maybe 1 or 2 pimples at a time. The solution doesn't rid your body of acne permanently, but if you are consistent and dedicated, it will remove most of your acne. We have been using this product for almost two years and are very happy with the results.
