Yes, it's almost a full size hair dryer BUT it does fold and the cord retracts. More importantly it's Powerful ... More than other so called travel hair dryers with the same wattage 1875! AND the cold shot doesn't slow down to the point of almost being off, like other travel hair dryers!!! Annoying. But not on this one. Of course I'd prefer a lighter dryer with the same features but until then this one fits the bill. I'd rather lug something a little heavy that's going to get me out the door FAST and enjoying my vacation! At this price, I'll be perfectly happy if it only lasts me thru my upcoming 10 day vacation. OMG you have to get this hair dryer it is a god send I have very wavy thick hair and I can never get it dry it can take up to 7 hours if I let it dry natually.
Most hair dryers do not have enough power to get it dry but the Andis is so much more plus it has a couple features that really sold me on it , 1st it's the retractable cord that in it's self is a value , 2nd there is a cool button that cools your hair down no matter what setting you have it on, and 3rd it has a foldable handle who could ask for more..
For me this is the best hair dryer I have ever bought this is a great deal so don't pass it up.

I had an Ion folding arm travel dryer that needed to be replaced so I purchased this. I used the travel dryer as my usual dryer just to save space in my bathroom drawers. This one is a bit bigger. I am not sure I would use this for travel though. I like the folding arm and retractable cord. It is not quiet but a lot quieter than my old Ion. It has 3 speeds which is nice. My daughters (5 and 2) use medium and I use high. We all have very thick shoulder length hair. It does leave our hair soft and shiny as my Ion did. Good purchase and price. I have only had it a week so I can't comment on durability yet.Customer Review: disappointed

I bought this hair dryer after using one at a Marriott hotel. Ordering online was great and I received the hair dryer within one week which was perfect since I was going on vacation and wanted to take it with me. I love the retractable cord and that the dryer folds in half.
Unfortunately, within two weeks of receiving it, and the night before I went away, the switch on the dryer stopped working properly. It only works in the low position. Needless to say, I couldn't bring it on vacation and have been so busy since returning, haven't had a chance to follow up on it. Great idea, just wish it worked out better.

I USED THIS HAIRDRYER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A HYATT HOTEL IN DENVER COLORADO, AND THE RESULTS WERE UNBELIEVABLE!! THE AMOUNT OF TIME TO BLOW DRY MY LONG HAIR WAS APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES !MY HAIR WAS SO FULL OF BODY AND SHINY--I DIDN'T CARE WHAT THE PRICE WAS TO GET ONE (AND FIGURING THE HYATT USED IT, I WAS READY FOR STICKER SHOCK!) I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT I FOUND IT ON AMAZON FOR $19.00. IT IS SO WORTH EVERY DOLLAR--I HAVE TOLD AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE (AND THEY LOOK AT ME LIKE I'M CRAZY!)THE ADDED BONUS IS THE RETRACTABLE CORD AND FOLDING HANDLE--I HAVE HIT THE LOTTERY!
