Customer Review: Reinventing the buff puff, at least the tub is clean.
Summary: 2 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I'm always on the look out for a really exfoliating (but not painfully so)shower accessory so though marketed for men I thought I'd try this out too (and I knew my husband would give it a try if it was in the shower, he's a sucker for anything new)

This is basically a buff puff in a masculine wrapper, I suppose it sort of looks like a tire with the black rubber edging and red extra scrubbing middle (reverse side of the buff puff side). I liked that it had a rope to hang in the shower, and that's about where my liking ended.

The rubber portion is very large, I'm 5'7" so not that petite and had a hard time holding it comfortably, the rubber also gets very slippery when it gets wet making the problem even worse. Nothing special about either scrubbing surface, I ended up sort of turning the rubber portion inside out so I could get a better grip.

My husband did also try it and reported back that he liked the simple other one in the shower better (which at this time happens to be a pink one, don't think guys really care what color it is) or a plain wash cloth.

I did find a good use for it though. When using cleaners to scrub the tub I hate how most sponges/scrubbies allow the cleaning product to get all over your hands, forcing you to wear gloves etc... well the rubber "tire" on this keeps any cleaner (body or tub) on the one side, so it works great with scrubbing bubbles or soft scrub to clean the tub, and lets be honest here... guys your girlfriends/wives care a lot more that your tub is grime free then if you've exfoliated in the shower :)

Customer Review: Works well, but not well made

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I decided to give the Axe Detailer a try, as I view it as a possible replacement for a separate washcloth and loofa. I am pleased with it but there is one issue I encountered with it.

This is a fairly large item, roughly the size of a softball that has been cut in half. The rubber grip is comfortable, making holding the Detailer quite easy. The soft side is a nylon mesh that does a great gob of lathering up and the abrasive side is the equivalent of a coarse dish scrubber (though not as abrasive as a green scrubber). It comes with a rope loop for hanging as well.

I found that the soft side is perfect for most areas and gets the lather worked up well. I tried using the abrasive side on my forehead and found it to be too abrasive, so it's better suited for feet and elbows.

Cleaning the Detailer when done was a snap. I held it under the shower head and gave it a squeeze - that was all that needed to happen to get all of the soap out.

What disappointed me, though, was that after a single use the nylon mesh was already starting to work itself loose and the abrasive side was coming undone. I was not especially hard on this thing, but apparently it is not made to last very long. According to the packaging, it should be replaced every 4-6 weeks, but I am not so sure it will last that long.

Overall, the Axe Detailer is a nice product for getting clean in the shower. It does a great job and it feels pleasant. Other than the fact that it is not constructed well, I cannot complain.

Customer Review: Fun but not exactly a necessity

The Axe Detailer Shower Tool is actually a hand-sized scrubber with one black plastic mesh side and one red scrub side suitable for digging into spots on firmer tissue.

I gave a scrubber to my spouse and these are his comments: I tried the Axe Detailer shower tool in two ways, using both shower gel and bar soap. Both seem to have a comfortable feel during use. It probably works better when applying a shower gel or liquid soap, however. One containing mint would be especially invigorating.
The accompanying directions accompanying this handy device breathlessly declare that "When girls check out guys, they notice every part." Whether that is true or not is unknown to this male reviewer. However, I found that the Axe Detailer was a serviceable dual-purpose scrubber and performed adequately, both in applying lather to more tender skin areas, and in scrubbing those more difficult to clean areas on body parts that might be comfortably scrubbed vigorously. It served its purpose well, and it should be especially useful in cleaning ground-in dirt.
I recommend it; it could make a nice gift.

Now in my opinion, it looks a lot the kind of freebie cosmetic companies put in gift bags for women - plastic, cheap, and unnecessary - but fun. I can't help thinking that it's the kind of thing a mother would give a twelve-year-old-boy hoping it would encourage him to bathe and something that teenage males might enjoy.

My own spouse will probably use it to remove garden grime!

Customer Review: My teen loved this
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Although he isn't into the Axe body sprays as much as he used to be, my son was eager to try this product as soon as he saw it. It is now a staple part of his daily shower and grooming routine. He truly appreciates it (and that is saying plenty for someone who typically isn't into "mens grooming" products).

The bottom line on why he likes it? First of all, he can keep it nearby in the shower, easily hanging from the shower head with the attached rope. That makes things easy, allows it to dry off between uses, etc. It also is attractive enough. The most important thing however, is that it actually makes it easier for him to get off any dirt, grime or other stuff - and do it in record time. There is a rough side on the detailer, perfect for hard to remove and stubborn dirt stains.. and a softer side for daily showers and normal use.

In case you are wondering about whether he fits your "target user" criteria or if it'd work for you: his daily activity level is high, athletic, engages in plenty of sports and doesn't hesitate to dive for that soccer ball, get dirty, etc. In short, typical high energy teen with a love of the outdoors and sports.

This means that there is ample opportunity to get sweaty and dirty - and that occurs. The Axe Detailer Shower Tool does a fine job of getting the dirt off, even reaching the difficult back area, ones not easily accessed by wash cloth or bar of soap.

Sound like a product you could use too?

Customer Review: Needs to be a bit bigger
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I gave this to my husband to use when he showered after work. I asked him how he liked it and got the every-so-descriptive "It was alright". Then after a long pause he said "I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it". For him that was a positive review yet not specific enough to report here.

So I tried it myself. I love the rubber gripper which allows it to stay in my hand better than a normal puff. Since there is a second side to it, this also keeps the puff part from over-fluffing and falling apart.

Although smaller than I would like, the rougher side is great for cleaning my fingernails and for hitting ankles, heels and the elbow area. The rough side gets rougher based on the amount of pressure you use behind the scrubbing. So, if you use a light touch, it's safe to use on other areas as well. I just would never use either side on the face.

My only complaint is that I don't think that this is big enough. I have small hands. This item fits in my hand perfectly. I think that since it's made for a man's larger hands that the product needs to be bigger. This would still work for smaller hands because the rubber around it allows for a more custom fit in the palm via squeezing.

I'd have given it five stars if it either would have been bigger or if it would have blown my husband away. I would buy this on a regular basis though "as is".
