Customer Reviews of Axe Detailer Shower Tool, Colors May Vary (Pack of 4)Customer Review: Finally a bath tool for the guys! Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The new Axe Detailer is just what is says it is...a "shower tool."
It is a functional bathing tool, but one that the guys won't be embarrassed to put in their shopping cart, even if it is a virtual one.
It maybe for that reason that the packaging on the product looks so...well phallic. But, that is niether here-nor-there, the Detailer is an effective bathing tool, it doesn't miss a thing, a soft mesh side for your general washing and a coarser side for the "dirtier spots" feet and hands and such. When used with the AXE shower gel (or your choice really) the mesh side works up a good lather and the red scrub side is a nice finishing tool. The "handest" bit about the Detailer is the hard rubber that separates the hard and soft sides of the tool, this serves as and effective grip for washing, one you can't get with a simple mesh thingy from a "bath" store. Points radiate out to comfortably hold in the hand, along with a standard loop for post-wash hang-up to dry.
I am unsure of the pricing concerning this product, as it is usually part of a promotional pack, allowing you to get AXE shower gel along with the Detailer, but I would certainly recommend the tool. But, it is hard to shake the strange (possibly less-erotic-than-intended)imagery of the AXE commercial connected with this tool, the one with the woman-driven-man-washer...
Customer Review: This little tool does the trick to an extent........ Summary: 3 Stars

My husband is a big time Axe user also and was excited to receive this product. After he used it he thought it was okay. He indicated that the soft black side does the job and feels like other mesh type products that usually come in a globe shape held together in the middle by a band. Great for lathering up and smooth with just a touch of texture but probably should have been a bit bigger.
As for the rougher red hard side again it's very much like other brushes that come with a texturized scrubber on one side of them. One advantage is that both of these brushes are on one product - but there are other brushes out there that are pretty similar with one part soft mesh and the other loofa type material and those products have the added advantage of being on a longer handle so you can easily reach the middle of your back and other hard to get to places where the Axe does not.
Additionally the black rubberized donut shaped holder was mushy so that the red side was always caving in (this was not a problem with the black side where you probably want it be be more flexible anyway). Overall its an O.K. product, especially if you are using more than one product to do the job today. But if you have a handle type product today with both a soft and rough area built in you will probably want to stick with that instead.
Customer Review: It's For A Man, Man! Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Axe goes to great lengths to make their products appear to be very manly despite being little more than metrosexual products hidden underneath a well-executed "tough guy" ad campaign. So goes it with their latest product, the Axe Detailer Shower "Tool" ('cause real men don't do loofahs). I have to admit that I've always liked Axe products, from their body sprays to their shower gels, and I'm quite pleased with the Detailer as well. When you need to get down to the nitty gritty, the rougher red side does a fine job of getting dirt and grime off of the bottom of your feet, your knees and elbows. The softer black mesh side leaves you feeling scrubbed down but not skinned alive. There's also a rubberized, tire-like gripper in the middle. The first time I used it was after a trip to Galveston Island, TX, where the Gulf of Mexico can be pretty dirty and contains a bit of tar as well. The Detailer did its job and got me clean. I've used it with shower gel as well as with bar soap. It appears to work just fine with both of them. It rinses clean quickly and easily too.
There are plenty of similar products on the market that work just as well and cost much less. However, if you're worried about losing your man-card but don't want to give up your longing for a good scrub down, the Detailer is just what you're looking for.
Customer Review: More of a scraper than a scrubber... Summary: 2 Stars

Custom applicators for cleansing products -- such as pHisoDerm's nylon scrubbing cloth -- aren't new. The Axe Detailer Shower Tool is the latest such product.
The ADST interested me because I don't bathe every day. As a sedentary IT worker, I rarely get sweaty or dirty or smelly, so I shower no more than three or four times a week. I apply the soap directly (rather than using a washcloth); a tool that did a better job scrubbing off dead skin (ie, exfoliating) would be useful.
The ADST has an mechano-organic look reminiscent of Giger. The body resembles a crustacean shell (Dr. Zoidberg's distant cousin, perhaps), and the black mesh resembles crab gills. (I'm from Maryland, so I'm familiar with crab gills.)
The mesh is the problem. Though Axe describes it as "soft", and it compresses easily, its strands are anything but soft. The feel is only _slightly_ gentler than rubbing a 3M plastic cleaning pad against your skin. (I got one out for comparison.) A day after using the ADST, the skin on my left arm remains tender. (I don't consider my skin to be unusually sensitive.)
The Axe Detailer didn't deliver the mildly rough, agreeably stimulating scrubbing I expected. A loofah it is not. It strikes me as more appropriate for elephants, rhinos, and domestic cattle.
Customer Review: Manly, Yes, But Good For Women, Too Summary: 4 Stars

The Axe brand "Shower Tool" is a dual use item. Always a good thing, twice the kick in a single item, all for one price.
One side is a basic webbed lather puff (not too manly, but thats what it is) and the other side is a scrubber area. These are connected via a black rubber-like holder.
The puff works as every other puff, very well. It lathers quickly. The "scrubber" is basically a loofah pad and works great for elbows, and feet.
Recommended use for both sides is with liquid soap, but I also used bar soap without any effort. Both work and lather quickly.
The rubberized holder is large (basically designed for a man's bigger hands) but it isn't too big or uncomfortable to hold for a woman, either. The larger size and rubber-like texture make it easy to grasp when all soaped up, a definite plus.
The hanging connection is a thick, red string that is clearly attached strongly. No worries about it pulling loose.
The one "con" - the only reason I gave this item four stars instead of five - is that the black holder, while useful, also makes it more difficult to squeeze out the item and rinse it clean.
All in all, though, a great item - Designed and marketed for men, but useful and practical for a woman as well.
