Customer Reviews of Axe Detailer Shower Tool, Colors May Vary (Pack of 4)Customer Review: An okay scrubber... Summary: 3 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
It's hard to get excited over a body scrubber, but this little tool does the trick well enough. You put the liquid soap (they suggest Axe, of course, though I used another kind) on the softer mesh section and scrub away. The rubber border gives a good grip in the shower, and the mesh is invigorating. The rougher and more abrasive of the two sides is good for knees, elbows and the soles of your feet, but doesn't have the oomph of an actual loofah, which it seems to want to emulate. It also takes a while to wring free of soap, far longer that the suggested time in the instructions. Still, it provides a pleasant enough shower experience.
Followup -- after only two weeks, the rubber finger hold has broken in one place, which leaves two nasty little sharp edges to hack at you while you're showering. That reduces the "pleasant" aspect as stated above. I'd knock it down to 2 stars, but I can't. Buyer beware...
Customer Review: Don't Waste Your Money Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the "detailer" at my local Wal-Mart two days ago. After reading reviews and buying into all the hype, I figured, I'd give it a try. Thirty seconds into my first attempt at using this thing and I was ready to toss it into the nearest trash receptacle. The "poofy" side is little more than a big knot of mesh that could be purchased at my local "Dollar-General" for, you guessed it...one dollar. The "poofy" side was small and harsh ans required me to use three times the amount of body wash as my old method, only to yield about no soap suds. The other side of the detailer,....well, let's just say that I would rather drag a bar of lava soap across my body than try to use it. I'm all for giving things a second chance and before I deep-sixed this thing, I decided to give it one more try. Same results except that this time my axe detailer went right into the trash. Overall, this thing was a complete waste of my money. It is not designed well and much too harsh unless you have skin like an armadillo. Don't pay for the name on this thing. Save your money and buy a manly colored poofy for $.99 and you'll be better off.
Customer Review: Great Shower Tool Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
At first glance you may think it is just another shower scrubber but there is much more to it than that. The Axe detailer has two sides. First, the soft mesh side is great for your entire body and second, the scrub side for feet, hands and elbows. Both sides are soft enough to be comfortable to use but rough enough to get the job done. But I have to say that what I liked the most was the rubber grip handle. This is what makes it stand apart from others for me. Normally when you use these mesh scrubbers, they have a tendancy to spread all out, leaving you with not much of a grip. That's also what causes me to replace them, they lose their effectiveness when they get stretched and sloppy. I loved gripping the rubber and getting a good, solid scrub. It is large-size for a man's hand but I found, as a female, easy enough for me to use also.
Customer Review: Nice Shower Experience Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is a really good spin on the whole loofah sponge concept. It's very similar to those scrunchy kind of things, except it has a nice soft vinyl grip.
The tool feels really good in your hand. You can definately get clean with this tool. One side is a loose woven material that holds soap and makes a ton of foam. The other side is more like a wash cloth for rubbing a bit harder.
The only downside, it's kind of hard to rinse out. You sort of end up with a lot of soap left in the scrunchy side. You don't really need Axe liquid soap, it works equally well with bar and liquid soaps.
The shower experience is nothing like the advertisement. It just helps you get clean without using a washcloth.
After a week of using this, the 17 year old in the house is in love with this thing.
Customer Review: More durable than any regular bath sponge! Summary: 4 Stars
I didn't buy an Axe Detailer the first time I saw it. It seemed a little too expensive, and as a person not too hung up on a macho exterior, I didn't think it would make a significant difference from anything else I already used. I took the leap of faith at a grocery store where I saw them on sale. I decided to give it a whirl, and I've been a fan ever since.
The Axe detailer has two distinct parts -- the regular bath sponge part in black and the red "detailer" that is for the rougher parts of the body like feet and elbows. While I have not found the detailer part incredibly helpful in my scrubbing routine, I think the black sponge part has held up remarkably well. With other bath sponges, they seem to come unraveled within the space of a week or two. I'm happy to report that I've been using my Axe Detailer for over two months, and it's held up incredibly well.
Even if you don't use Axe products, or even if you're a woman, give the Axe Detailer a try. Forget the brand image -- this product is remarkably adept at cleaning your body!
