In high school, I swam competitively and showered (and washed my hair) daily. At age 16, this is fine, but as you age (and become more busy) it's impossible to wash and dry and straighten (or style) long hair every day.
In college, I began shampooing every other day, and wore a ponytail on the days I didn't shampoo - BLAH! Batiste is great - you shake the can HARD, spray lightly and evenly on the part in your hair and rub into your scalp, then brush out. I will then part my hair again (about 4 times total) all along the top of my head and spray evenly, rub with fingers, and then brush out. The spray absorbs most oil and even adds some body to the roots! It even works well after you sweat at the gym (I recommend lightly and coolly blow-drying your roots, then using Batiste to touch up). No, Batiste is not exactly the same as a real shampoo - you won't get the same results, but 75% is better than the 0 I was getting before!
Now, I only have to shampoo every third day, instead of every other day like when I started using Batiste. Most people don't know, but shampooing is a self-defeating premise - the more you shampoo, the quicker your roots become greasy. After a month of using Batiste (for the days in between shampooing), I need less product than I used to, and only shampoo every third day.
I've tried baby powder on my roots before - it just makes brown or black hair look gray! The only draw back is the scent is a little strong, but my boyfriend claims it smells almost as good as a fresh shampoo. Batiste is money well spent on the 6+ hours I now have every week!

I looove this stuff!! I have really thick dry hair that i absolutely hate to have to wash every day but because my scalp gets so oily, I have to unless I use this fabulous product. Because my hair is dry (everywhere other than the scalp) I actually like the way my hair looks more with this than actually shampooing it and having it look super dry all over. If you feel like it "builds up" and isn't working, you're probably just spraying too close. Spray from far away, let it settle for a minute or so than brush/comb it through like the directions say. And it really doesn't need THAT much. It actually takes a few min for it to absorb all the oil. I think some of the reviewers who didn't like it probably put too much based on what they are saying. As far as the smell goes, it is really not that bad. My mom actually LIKED the smell. I can't say I like it, but I'm not grossed out by it at all, and besides it goes away almost right away. As far as baby powder vs. this thing..I hate the smell of baby powder so much but sometimes I will sprinkle a little in conjuction with this product and it works GREAT. I can go three days without washing my hair and it looks awesome (And I have really greasy hair.) LOVE IT.Customer Review: Best Value Dry shampoo

About one year ago, I bought the each of the 3 dry shampoos that are for sale here. The one that starts with A did not work very well. The one that starts with K worked but I only got a couple of uses from the can. Next I ordered 6 more cans of Batiste!
Batiste works very well. It looks almost as good as freshly washed hair and lasts all day. What I like the most is that a can really lasts a long time. I have used it at least 3 x weekly for the last 9 months. I feel like I do not have to save it for special occasions due to the size of the can and the price. I still have 2 cans left. I keep one in the car for "emergencies" I think it costs about twenty-five cents per use
The prices are VERY variable show shop carefully. I just bought 6 more cans (so I won't run out) for about 4.00 each, but have seen prices up to $11.00 each
I shake well and hold it about 4-6 inches (this is not what the directions say) from my bangs--the area that gets oily first. I let it "sink in" for a few minutes and the fluff with my fingers until the white is all absorbed. I have not tried the colored versions, but don't feel I need them. So far I have only used the original scent.

First off, please ignore the reviews that are griping about this making dark hair look white & powdery. I have long, very dark brown hair, and love this stuff. Start with as little as possible in any given area: you can always add a little more later if needed. It is like hairspray or any other styling product: if you add way too much right from the start, you are not going to like the results. Holding the can at the proper distant from your head also makes a big difference.
Fragrance: very heavy at first but fades quickly. I am not a huge fan of the scent, but do not find it offensive either. Husband agrees.
My hair is very thin and fine, so within 1 day of showering my bangs, crown and around my face/neck look limp, dull and slightly greasy. In the morning, I can curl the ends of my hair and straighten my bangs with a flat iron as needed to get my hair shaped again, and then use this. The results: my hair looks as good as it would if I had just washed it and blown it out!
From now on a can of this will absolutely be coming with me on any vacation, road trip or camping excursion we take.

Just to give a little background: I have been using it for about 2 months now. I am the type to only wash my hair every other day. I would not say I have extremely greasy hair or dry. I do color my hair often.
Every day that I do not wash my hair, I use this.. and it makes my hair feel just like it did the day before. It lasts for about... 10-15 hours depending on how much you touch your hair(or how windy it is outside). It works well even if you have already sprayed your hair earlier that day. If you want to curl your hair but you don't have time to shower and curl, then just spray it on before curling. Your curls may not hold quite as well, but they will last almost as long as they would on clean hair.
Highly recommended!!"
