Customer Reviews of Benefit Cosmetics Benetint

Customer Review: One of my must have beauty products
Summary: 5 Stars

Benefit is my favorite make-up line. Have used the Benetint for years. I like to use my own lip brush that is a bit fuller and holds more product, I line my lips with it, then fill them in a bit. Then add a few dots to the apples of my cheeks (over moisturizer, foundation but before setting powder). Takes some practice to get right as you have to blend and work fast before the stain sets. Once you have the technique down though, it is fabulous.

I haven't yet found another lip or cheek stain that can compete. If used carefully (ie not too much at once, just layer for more color) then I get this wonderful pinkish/rosy/soft red for my lips and a bit of blush for the cheeks that is natural, pretty, and best of all, has serious staying power.

On the lips, after I finish the lips, I outline with a pale'ish lip liner just to perfect the definition, then either put a moisturizing lipstick over it or just a bit of plumping gloss.

Do be aware that if you put too much on the lips at once, or don't use the right brush for you, it can bleed/feather, so experiment a bit with the product to get it right. A little patience will pay off with big rewards.

A little goes a long way, so it's a fair price for the amount of use I get out of one bottle. My lip application will last at least half the day, sometimes a bit longer.

Another wonderful product from a seriously cool company. If you want a pretty and sheer but potent lip or cheek stain, do give this one a try. Highly recommended!

Customer Review: A Tricky Product...
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently bought this and I'll get down to my main points:

Application: The cheekstain is in thin liquid form (it's not gooey, it's watery in texture). I've read complaints that it dries very quickly and the only thing I can add to that is the applicant needs to rub the stain in immediately after application. It's not that difficult if you know exactly where blush looks good on your own cheekbones.

Important reminders:
1. Moisturize before application!!
2. Don't overapply and you'll be fine; a few drops as recommended is good so you can add more color if desired.
3. Ladies with fair skin who have red splotches should, in my opinion, use powder blush with light-reflecting pigments in it.

What I did not like: The cheap rose scent. I usually appreciate mild fragrances in certain cosmetics, but this stuff has to go on my lips too! Ick!

What I did like: The color; my oriental skin doesn't blush easily except when I exercise and my cheekbones are not prominent. This cheekstain really hits the spot for me, color-wise (and it stays on all day too!).

Bottom line: Although I do not own any yet, I suggest Tarte cheekstain for their better ingredients, texture and color selection. After reading all the reviews, I feel like I got cheated by Benefit, but this product does work well for me, so I can't complain.

Customer Review: For that natural flush!
Summary: 4 Stars

First off, I had never used a cheek/ lip stain before in my life, and this really got me started on a craze. I have since also bought Urban Decay's lip envy lip stain in "greedy". Anyways, I got this initially as a 2.5 ml sample versus the 12.5ml full size. I've been using it everyday for the past 2 weeks now and there's still so much sample left. I also bought the full size thinking I would run out of sample faster than I did, but I probably won't get to the full size for another month at least. Benetint smells just like roses, and it's great for a natural flush. I'm a huge fan of Nars blushes, but they're sometimes too shimmery for everyday wear (even though I love Orgasm like no other), so I wear Benetint when I don't feel like putting that much makeup on. I wear it under everything- under my moisturizer, primer, and foundation. I usually use 4 stripes instead of 3 b/c I'm not extremely pale, but you do have to blend, but it's quick and easy to apply. A lot of people complain about the brush, but I actually like it. It's easy to use and with rigorous blending looks super natural. This stuff doesn't last as a lip stain and the color is kind of faint, and it does tend to dry out my lips (even with lip gloss over it). Overall, this is one of my staple makeup items. I highly recommend it.

Customer Review: So right...
Summary: 5 Stars

To all of the people out there still thinking that liquid stain is tricky to use, I really want to recommend this product. No wonder there's been a dozen new versions and imitations of it as soon as it came out, they got it exactly right the first time!

Benetint is a wonderful pink-reddish color that looks good on just about anyone, I'd say it's universally flattering. The formula's completely liquid so the best recommendation is just not to take TOO long to work on it or it'll dry on your cheeks. The key is to dab a little on the apple of your cheeks and work with your fingertips.

I, a former devotee of powder blushes, originally bought this for my lips as it gives them a nice I've-been-sucking-on-a-lollipop color and a great look when used under gloss. However, I tried it out on my cheeks one day that I was sick and looked really pale...wow! It looks so natural my mother even asked me if I'd had a walk in the sun. That, I think, is the best part about it, no other thing I've ever tried has looked as natural. I have to admit it looked amazing, lasted all day, and smells like roses.

Don't be fooled by the price and the size, very little goes a long way and even with daily use it'll last you a looong time. A wonderful product and a great buy.

Customer Review: Perfect, natural color
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this tint. It is just the right shade of pinkish-red; in fact, it is the exact same color my lips used to be, before the color faded with age and sun damage. I didn't care for it on my cheeks, which are naturally pink on their own, but a tiny spot blended into my eyelids (upper brow bone area) really makes me look healthy and awake.

Note, this is just a tint and won't provide the same moisturizing effects as a lipstick or gloss. Also, it is best if you apply it to clean, dry lips (e.g., not on top of a balm or other color), or it will just run. I wear mine under Badger Lip Balm or under the Benetint Lip Balm, and it feels and looks great for hours.

The most pleasing thing about a tint is its layering/staining affects. I apply it no more than 3 times a day (though I apply the balms more often), and I wake up the next morning, after having washed my face and brushed my teeth the night before, with berry-kissed lips. A far safer alternative to "permanent" cosmetics. Highly recommended.
