The scoop on Lemon-Aid
I purchased Benefit's Lemon-Aid based on the glowing reviews here. Like most women, I read the reviews hopefully, yet skeptically. Sometimes you have to take a chance and that chance paid off: Lemon-Aid really is a miracle.
Are your eyelids dark from lack of sleep? If so, benefit WILL HELP! I work overnights, so do not always get enough sleep (and lately my face has been reflecting that). I dabbed a little bit on each eyelid (and a tiny bit underneath) and rubbed it in. Viola! The dark circles were neutralized. AND, like someone else wrote, my eyes really popped!
I have thin eyelashes and light eyes, so it is sometimes hard to get my eyes to stand out. With a little bit of Lemon-Aid, the dark circles are balanced out and my eyes really pop. I can't believe how well this product works.
You can also use Lemon-Aid to counteract the red of blemishes (elsewhere on the face) or red allergy eyes. I've applied it to red spots on my face, then applied my foundation and it really works, too.
Though it is called Lemon-Aid and the product is yellow, it does not go on yellow. It simply balances out coloration problems. I am not sure how it works, but it does!
Lemon-Aid is a multitasking miracle product. The only downside (as pointed out by my hubby) is the price. Relatively big price for a small amount. But, truly, a little goes a long way. This product is worth every single penny.
Customer Review: works great- high price Summary: 4 Stars
This item works well for eyelids (not undereye)if you are pale to medium complected (only). It is also useful around broken capillaries esp. under /around the nose; a little bit goes a long way; be sure to apply it in ample light so you don't over do it.And it lasts a long time; that being said,it's up to the you if the price is worth it; you can achieve just as much with NYC stick concealers w/ vit. E and they can be used over the entire face.(for less than 2 dollars). The yellow tint of lemon-aid (is not too yellow which is great) does work slightly better for areas stated above; but not dramatically better. If you do want to look flawless and take the extra time to use different products for different areas of skin on your face(and you have 18 dollars) I do recommend the purchase of this product. Alot goes a long way b/c it is formulated specifically for your eye lid; which is great for me b/c I am pale with really dark/tan eyelids; it really evens out my face. Before I used The NYC for all cover up areas b/c that product has full coverage and is very versitale. But the lemon aid does add an extra umph- albeit only noticed by me- but that's what counts right?
Lastly, and I can't stress this enough: both products are non-comedogenic, go on smooth (even better if lotion is applied first),and control oil/shine to an extent. This is wonderful if you worry about blackheads or have sensitive skin. You won't break out from using this.
Customer Review: excellent buy Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this product. I wear it just about everyday and it makes a HUGE difference on how my eyes looks. I have dark undereye circles that I use concealer for but something that is not as often addressed in the makeup world is upper eyelid darkness/discoloration. (Most concealers are not good to use on your upper eyelid as they will crease and will make any eyeshadow you're wearning not last as long.) When I wear this I look so much healthier and awake, as opposed to looking tired and sick. I told a friend about it once and she was like oh THAT'S why your eyes always look amazing!! Before this the last thing I got compliments on were my eyes. Even though it makes a huge difference, the best part is it DOES NOT look like you are even wearing anything if you put the right amount on. By the way, to make it last as long as possible, I have found dabbing and blending work best as opposed to just smearing it across your eyelid. But even if you find that it is not lasting the whole day, it is very easy and quick to reapply and it will give a nice refreshed look. If you don't believe me, the first time you try it just put it on one eye and stand back and look at yourself..you WILL be amazed. And it lasts forvever- I am only on my second thing of it and I have been wearing it for like 3 years now.
P.S. I definitely recommend purchasing this- but just get it from Sephora, their returns are hassle free.
Customer Review: The Trick is to Learn! Summary: 5 Stars
This product works.
It's bright yellow! It will hide, minimize, and camoflouge those dark undereye circles for HOURS. It is a thick product, but goes on silky soft after you have blended it in.
For those ladies that complain that it drags your undereye area, learn how to use the product.
1. Moisturize your eye area well. Use any specifically made undereye moisturizer (Eyecon also by benefit works well in conjunction with this product, for cheaper, hit up Walmart in a dazzling array of undereye moisturizers well within budget target.)
2. If it's too thick, or doesn't spread, STICK IT IN YOUR POCKET. The body heat will warm up the product and make it apply smoother. You wouldn't expect cold butter to spread, don't expect your cream based eye makeup to either.
3. Use a concealer brush, not just your fingers. The concealer brush helps as you can work it into the target area of the shadow without having to spread it all over the eye area. If you spread it all over, it gives you the "reverse raccoon" effect and doesn't quite camoflouge.
4. Set it! Set the concealer with a light powder or setting powder. I use Bare Escentuals products, so I just set it with my foundation, giving it a more natural look.
Best product yet, I'll never go back to drugstore concealers again!
Customer Review: expensive for the effect Summary: 2 Stars
As other reviewers indicate, the purpose of Lemon-Aid is to act as an "eye brightener," and the sales associate said it could also serve as an eyeshadow base. For either purpose, you can get more for your money using other products. The consistency of this product varies by season. I've had mine for a few years now and have noticed that I cannot wear this during the winter (even though I'm in a heated apartment) because it is just too difficult to spread onto your lids. When you do try to apply it, it streaks and you end up tugging at that sensitive eye area. In the summer it is much more easy to apply. If you have greasy eyelids, it will affect the performance of this product, causing it to crease. Thus, if you are using it as an eyeshadow base, all of your eyeshadow will crease, too. Personally, I think if you're looking for an eyeshadow base you should buy an eyeshadow base (like Urban Decay Primer Potion), and if you want an eye brightener you should buy a nice eyeshadow (like MAC Ricepaper or Shroom, or Benefit's Shallow). If you really like the idea of spreading creaminess over your eyes, try MAC Paints or L'Oreal's new paint-like products (in the HiP line).
