THESE ARE AWESOME CURLING IRONS. YET, BRAUN HAS DECIDED TO QUIT MAKING THEM. THIS PHOTO SHOWS THE SMOOTHSTYLER. THAT IS NOT THE INDEPENDENT! THEY ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT. I AM RATING THE INDEPENDENT CORDLESS STYLER. I PURCHASED MY FIRST ONE IN LONDON SOME YEARS AGO, AND HAVE HAD TO BUY THEM FROM LONDON AFTER THEY QUIT WORKING. NOW, THEY ARE TOTALLY DISCONTINUED WORLDWIDE, AND I NEED ONE. THEY ARE SO POPULAR, I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED. This curling iron is fantastic for all women on the go. It is quick to heat up and you can use it in a car, in most any vehicle, because you do not need a plug. You can carry it in your handbag for those quick "pick me up" on bad hair days.
The only negative is when the wick will not ignite and you need a new one, it is difficult to find this item now. I have used it since 1992.

I actually like this product very much. It has always worked well for me. Switching it on is kind of like lighting an old-fashioned butane lighter (i.e., you have to click it a few times). The only downsides are that it is difficult to find the replacement cells or the curling iron and, since 9/11 you can't really travel with flamable butane cartridges.Customer Review: The best invention ever!

It is cordless, so there is no need to be near an electrical outlet and also worry about a cord while maniulating the curling iron around my head. It's a great solution to hair curling. I really like the cordless curling iron. It is very convenient. It is a little hot. I wish it had some heat control. This was my first purchase on amazon. com and I was surprised and pleased with the ease and quick response I received.
