I purchased both the C.O.Bigelow after shave balm and the cologne and both are a big disappointment, the balm is nothing more then a greasy hand cream with a small(VERY SMALL) trace of Bay Rum scent, the almost $40.00 a bottle C.O.Bigelow Bay Rum cologne smells nice when first applied but with in 30 minutes nether the wearer or anyone nearby can smell it anymore. The cheaper ClubMan Bay Rum after shave at a 1/4 of the price of the O.C.Bigelow cologne smells just as good if not better and last 3 times as long, I use it as an after shave and body splash.
I'm still looking for a good long lasting Bay Rum like Grandfather use to wear, the stuff I remember him using came in a tall glass bottle with a cork and it made the whole bathroom smell like Bay Rum.
