What would i ever do without my CHI??? Ive had this straightening iron for almost 6 yrs now.. it has never failed me. I drop it pretty constantly and the only damage i think i have caused is that the light that tells you its on doesnt always come on when i flip the switch. this appears to be a problem with the power cord because i wiggle it a bit at the base of the iron and the light comes on. Again- its 7 yrs old and i am not all that gentle.
Pros: the plate is ceramic all the way through- unlike cheap irons that say they are ceramic but the plates are not 100% ceramic. This makes a big difference because cheaper plates do not heat evenly and can actually end up burning your hair :( also, the 1" plate is really versatile- you can curl your hair with it if you needed to since it is so thin, but on the downside if you have long hair it takes a bit longer. Ok
Cons: There is no temperature adjustment.. thats basically it.
So Yes i recommend this Iron if you want a good plain old ceramic iron- but, 6 yrs later there is better technology available and my next iron will be either titanium or tourmaline with variable temperature settings.. i love my chi... but tourmaline ceramic plates promise a shiny healthier finish that every girl wants :)
