Customer Review: Finally - An Awesome Flat Iron That Really Works

I purchased the Farouk CHI Turbo 2" Ceramic Ionic Flat Iron Hair Straightener two months ago from Ulta. There were many flat irons on display so I talked to the hair stylist on duty and asked what they used in the Ulta salon. She said they only used the CHI Turbo and that I should get the 2" because my hair is past my shoulders. She said they only used Farouk Silk Therapy (Biosilk). I bought both.
I had previously tried a cheaper ceramic (with steam) flat iron with other types of protecting serums and felt that my hair looked damaged so quit.
Because of the length and thickness of my very extremely coarse naturally curly hair, it takes me at least 30 minutes to flat iron my hair (45 if I don't hot roll first) - it is bushy and takes a long time to separate into sections. I never blow dry my hair because it would be even more bushy and tangly and would make the hair care process even longer.
I have found the best results for my hair type: I wash and condition with the inexpensive Garnier Frutis Sleek & Shine products and let air dry thoroughly. Then I use 1 1/2" hot rollers all over - this makes the sectioning and flat ironing go much quicker and with better results. (I use a little Biosilk just on the ends with each roller). It also allows my ends to have a slight curl that I cannot get if I flat iron the entire length.
Then I divide my hair into four sections and use a lot of plastic clips to help with this. Working with one of these four sections I then sub-section into the amount of hair that works best with the flat iron. I pour a small amount of Biosilk on the counter and touch my fingers to it and rub through each section and then run the flat iron through it. I do use the CHI at the highest setting but run it quickly through the hair. I stop about 1 1/2" from the ends so I will have that little bit of curl - and protect the drier ends from potential damage from the CHI.
My hair looks great ALL week and I seldom do anything else to it. At night, I clip it up on top of my hair with a large clip.
Using the CHI to straighten my hair saves me a lot of time during the week. When I don't flat iron my hair I have to wash, condition, and gel it every morning. When I flat iron it I don't have to wash it but once on the weekend and it looks just the same on day 6 as it did on day 1.
I am 52 and wish so much I had had this product during the late 60's and early 70's when straight hair was 'in' - when I tried everything from ironing it on the ironing board to using lye straighteners that ruined my dry hair - to even rolling it on large orange juice cans.
I think this is an awesome product when used along with Biosilk - and is well worth the cost.
