Customer Reviews of Caruso C97953 SalonPro 30 Molecular Steam Hairsetter with 30 RollersCustomer Review: Best Hair Tool in the World!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this after reading all (well mostly) positive reviews. I always loved the way my hair looked when it was curled, but if I used a curling iron or hot rollers, my hair would uncurl in a few minutes. This is the only product I can use to curl my hair. There are a few tricks and tips I would tell people.
1. Make sure your hair is completely dry before you roll them.
2. Don't leave the curler on the steaming unit too long.
3. Steam the sheild before putting it in place
4. After you wait the 10 minutes for the curl to set, take the time and blow dry the curls on the cool heat setting. This sets the curl and can make it last for days longer.
5. If possible, use distilled water.
6. If you have read any other reviews, I'm sure you've heard about the unit dying after a few months. Actucally, the machine just needs to be cleaned!!!! Minerals in tap water build up and cause blockages on the inside, all you have to do is mix 1 tablespoon of vinger and full with water to the line. Plug in the steamer and wait 5-10 minutes, you should start to see steam. Let this run til it is not getting anymore water and your steamer with be just like new.
This is absolutely the best curling product out there!
Customer Review: MESSY-BURN HAZARD Summary: 2 Stars
I have used these and though they DO make a good curl they are MESSY to use and a BURN hazard.
Steam shoot up from the unit and you have to put the roller on it and hope it get hot and wet enough with steam then grab it and put it in your hair while steam is shooting up in the air until you put the next curler on it.
The heat up is just a few minutes and it takes practice to get used to this method to be safer with it but I got sick of burning my fingers and with my little child around they could pull the cord and with steam shooting out....well it is just a hazard too.
I gave it away to a young teen with no kids and that liked to fiddle with messy hair stuff.
I then bought the Babyliss Pro Instant Heat Ion Ceramic Hot Rollers. I love those as they are not messy and I can close the cover so my little one will not get burned on a hot roller. I found it faster and less messy and less harzardous to me and my kid.
The curls with Caruso lasts longer with no hair product on but the hot rollers last just as long if you apply a light spritz of styling spray or mousse before rolling in the hot rollers and so go with the hot rollers for speed and safety.
Customer Review: Does wonders for straight difficult to curl hair! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the ONLY product that will give my straight hair curls or waves. Just add water to the steamer unit, plug in, pop a roller on unit. As you are sectioning off the next hair, the roller steams, roll your dry hair, pass the roller cover cap over the steamer and cover the roller. Pop on the next roller, section, roll, pass cap over the steam, cover. Continue until all hair is rolled. By the time I put on a bit of makeup, the curlers are all cooled and ready to unwind. Brush teeth, lightly brush hair or finger comb, mist of spray. Good to go. Hair, makeup, teeth 15 min max. Curls, waves last ALL DAY! If I want tighter curls, I use smaller rollers, or I may use a warm blow dryer on the rolled curlers for a minute, then use cool air to "set" the curl. What I really appreciate is the "lift" and volume at the roots of the hair these curlers give. Every other heat set method left my hair flat at the roots with a bit of curl at the ends that slid out within 15 min. I can use my steam rollers every morning without damage to my hair. I can go a couple days without setting if I use a bit of spray to hold. You'll be amazed and so pleased with this product!
Customer Review: not everything it claims to be Summary: 3 Stars
My hair is thick, not pin-straight, but close. I'm caucasian & 38. When using hot curling iron, it takes me about 8 minutes to create some waves that last a couple hours. These Caruso curlers might also take me about 8 min to put all in (I'm new with it too) then I can finish getting kids ready, etc & come back. The cold shot with dryer makes a difference, and the curls (even with Jumbo) are amazingly bouncy & shiny. It absolutely relaxes to a nice body look which I spray, and its better than curling iron gives. That holds for several hours, but by end of day its all but a memory. Forget the "days" claim. Even when I put gel in first that didn't happen. Now after using them about 5 times, the clips seem to slip off easier, causing great frustration. It does require distilled water, which the csr told me - the website & box do not. Mine came WITHOUT instructions or styling guide, which 2 weeks later I'm still waiting for its arrival from the company. Disappointed with these issues, but I do like the change from hot iron, and the curls are beautiful, so I still gave 3 stars. My hair dresser thought they had a good reputation.
Customer Review: Caruso C97953 SalonPro 30 Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased the Caruso for my wife after returning a Conair Infinity. The Conair Infinity did not measure up to her expectations. She is happy with the Caruso and feels that it does an good job setting curl. I will offer a few observations of my own. I would think that companies that produce these devices would be more sensative to the needs of a broader spectum of customer. For instance, women have different lengths of hair. This device provides 6 petite, 6 small, 6 medium, 6 large, 6 jumbo. That might be fine for women with shoulder length hair, but not for everyone.
There's not enough of one size to get the job done. There's not enough of two sizes to get the job done. If your hair has just been cut, it's to short to use the larger sizes, unless you have long hair to start with. My wife's hair is not quite shoulder length, she's got a problem. So, I figured, no big deal, just order a dozen of the right size. One dozen additional rollers cost $35. I only paid $29 for the unit with 30 rollers.
That's not what I call customer friendly.
