Customer Reviews of Caruso C97953 SalonPro 30 Molecular Steam Hairsetter with 30 Rollers

Customer Review: Curl Didn't Hold
Summary: 2 Stars

I was excitied to receive the Caruso Molecular Steam Hairsetter with Rollers in the mail. My hairdresser recommended it, and the Amazon reviews were positive. I was disappointed, however. Even though I ordered extra rollers, I still did not have enough for all of my hair. Because I ran out of the mediums, I substituted with small and large rollers, and the hairstyle, when completed, looked nice. But the curl did not hold. Within a few hours, I lost the curl. I thought this product would work because my hair has some natural body and is neither too thick nor too thin. I have soft water in my house as well, which should be helpful. I've tried this product a few times now, thinking that perhaps I need more practice, but I still cannot get the curl to stay. When I spoke to my hairdresser he commented that perhaps my hair is too thick to hold the curls. So my suggestion to anyone considering purchasing this product is to reconsider it if your hair is slightly thick. It won't hold the curl.

Customer Review: Deeply Disappointed
Summary: 2 Stars

I have owned the Caruso Molecular steam hairsetter for at least the last 15 years and would not buy any other hairsetting product. It is gentle on the hair and gives a wonderful, soft, steamed curl, as opposed to harsh, electric hot curlers. I recently purchased the new "smaller version", because my old one - with the larger water/heating unit, burned out after many years of use. The old one required more water and a bit of salt. It gave great steam, filling the rollers with a lot of steam, thus giving a better curl to the hair. This newer version does not require salt, uses very little water, and does not have the steam making power the older version did. I am very dissappointed in this "newly designed" product. I have packed it away, and will use it only as a back up. I hate it when you use a product for many years and find they have upgraded, improved, or discontinued the product. Sometimes, it is best to leave well enough alone. I will purchasing one of the older hairsetters on Ebay.

Customer Review: Very Disappointed!
Summary: 1 Stars

I used to have the old steam setter with salt. It worked for years and the curls always held for at least a whole day. And, all the reviewers who said there are 12 huge rollers are right. The description of the sizes was wrong. I didn't use any of the huge size. BUT, worst of all, even with the smaller sizes, my curls didn't even last ONE HOUR!

After reading the reviews, I picked this one, figuring the folks who liked it were probably right and the ones who complained just didn't know how to use the steam setter. Well, the complainers were right. It's going back in the morning.

I had such high hopes for this to help me look so special for my son's wedding in about a week and a half. At this rate, the curls wouldn't have lasted through the pre-wedding pictures and would have been gone before the guests arrived. Here's another incident of something not being made as well now as they used to make it.

Save your money and buy something else!

Customer Review: Caruso Hairsetters have problems
Summary: 1 Stars

The Caruso hairsetters are absoulutley wonderful for holding curls in the
difficult-to-curl hair. There is only one major problem. After owning 5 of these products in the past 8 years, I am getting ready to purchase another one. (You would think that I would learn by now, but it's the only thing that keeps my hair curly.) These hairsetters quit working for no apparent reason. You are guaranteed about 6-10 uses before it craps out on you.

This last one, which was the expensive $55 ionic set was used 4 times before it stopped. I would like to hear from someone who knows what the problem is with these hairsetters. First I thought it was the tap water I was using, so I tried using spring water. Another thought I had with my last hairsetter, was that I turned off the unit after use, but forgot to drain the water from inside the container. I believe there is another company that makes steam hairsetters. Does anybody know if the're any good?

Customer Review: Best Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

This product gives wonderful curls (size of your choosing!) that are bouncy and soft. Because of the steam, there is no way it could ever dry out your hair/ends like regular curling irons. The curls last well into the next day, or at least in my case, until I wash my hair again! The curler covers hold hold hold and don't come out until I take them out. They "click" into place. I roll my hair and by the time I'm done w/my makeup, it's time to take the rollers out! There is no hurry up and wait. I use to have the one that required salt, but this one, not requiring salt, works just as wonderfully without salt! I am on my second setter. The first lasted me years and years. The rollers foam finally gave out on me I used it so much. But after throwing mine away, I realized I had to have another. I'm sure this one will last just as long, if not longer w/o the salt to worry with. If anything changes, I'll let you know! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
