Customer Review: Works good enough - but could be better.

I have very long hair - in the back it nearly reaches my waist. It is tapered a bit shorter towards my face. My hair is somewhat soft and has a very mild natural wave if I let it air dry. It generally takes a curl easily. When using the Caruso kit, I tried it several ways they recommend in the manual - blow drying quick method, or letting the curlers set for 15 minutes naturally. Both yield the same results for me. When initially set, the curls are strong. But within an hour, the curl relaxes significantly. Enough curl remains so that the ends stay neatly turned under, and I get more volume near the crown. That looks is adequate for me - so I do appreciate the look these rollers ultimately give me. However, I can't retain the initial mass of curls that are seen when first unwrapping my hair from the curlers. I wish I could. But - I guess I am happy enough with these results. At times I have encountered "roller marks" which require some brush work, curling iron, or blow dryer to smooth out. It is a little fussy to set up the steamer and do each roller individually. I tested it out by not using steam one day, and setting the rollers in freshly blow dried hair, and using the hot heat of the blow dryer, then cold shot of the blow dryer to set the curl - and got the same results as when I used steam. Overall - they're sort of worth it. But I probably wouldn't buy them again if I knew all this ahead of time.
