Customer Reviews of Cationic Hydration 44 Iron Guard - Thermal Protection Spray (8.5 oz)

Customer Review: Smooth and shiny in humidity and light rain.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this when I bought my CHI flat iron. I have fine, dry, mildly curly hair and when it rains, the humidity frizzes my hair something fierce.
But when I use the CHI thermal spray (they really should give it a shorter name--13 words is a bit silly) and then flat iron my hair, it stays smooth all day long. (I put a few squirts in my hands and work it through mostly the top layer and ends of my dry, clean hair.)
I had read previously on Amazon that it gets very sticky if you put it on wet hair, so I always dry my hair before I put it on--I don't know if it's true.
Anyway, I've used all kinds of defrizzers, including Bumble & Bumble, and none of them comes closes to CHI's performance. I've had my hair long for years with this and no split ends or damage. I think it's great.

Customer Review: Only buy it from Amazon if you have to...
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, if you have an Ulta beauty store near you, I would recommend going there to buy this product because they carry it for a much lower price. If Amazon is your only option however, then it's worth ordering. CHI is professional quality and it protects your hair with unrivaled results. It's probably the best product out there for heat protection, and if you're concerned about hair damage from straightening then you should order it. When I first used it on my hair it felt kind of sticky before it dried, but that's normal. I straighten my hair nearly every day now and it still has shine, but when I used other products in the past I wasn't getting the same results as CHI. 5 stars for the product itself, but the price is much lower at Ulta.

Customer Review: OK in a pinch
Summary: 3 Stars

I prefer mizani for my thermal styling but when I can't get my product on the cheap, I pull out the iron guard. Took me a while to figure it out, black women can't dampen their hair then apply direct heat. I spray it on 8-10inches from my head like spritz then give my hair 2-3 minutes to dry. Crisper curls depending on how much you use, which is a good or bad thing depending on what style you are going for.
My only problem is it doesn't seem to play nice with other products. In the evening I like to put a moisturizer on my ends, the next day my hair was like straw - had to wash and condition again. So now when I am using this product for my styling the only thing that accompanies it is a little finish sheen.

Customer Review: Doesn't even work... wth
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this product at Target thinking that it would be the best heat protectant. However, after many uses, it made my hair extremely corse. I would spray it on my dry hair, which would then become wet. I would let it dry (so I wouldn't apply hear to my wet hair)then I would use my hair straightener. I found that it made my hair feel extremely course and burnt. My hair was straight but it looked horrible. At first I thought it was my hair straightener, but then I noticed the hair that I didn't spray was still soft and straightened really well.

I would not recommend this product. I think this is the last product of CHI I use.

Customer Review: Drying for your hair!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this product thinking that the Chi straightener was amazing so all their products must be. However, I noticed that my hair seemed dryer after use and not protected from split ends. I even discussed the product with my hairdresser who agreed that she found it was drying and affected the look of some of her clients hair and was throwing it away and going back to her original brand of choice (which of course I have forgotten). Plus, and this is a personal thing, I think it smells like something in men's cologne. I am still in the process of looking for an amazing protectant option.
