About 3 years ago, when I was in my early 20's, I was finally fed up with my decade plus terrors of getting cystic acne along my temples and jawline. NOTHING WORKED. After going to my dermatologist in near tears, I begged for Accutane. As anyone who knows about dramatic acne treatments, Accutane takes the cake. It literally makes your skin erupt at first and the dries EVERYTHING out. I found a lip balm, a lotion, and a semi moisturizing body wash, but I still needed something for my face...
Cue my discovery of Cetaphil. Little known, never advertised, outdated logo, Cetaphil. This not only kept my skin from being so dry it itched, it actually made it feel BETTER after washing it. I have used everything from Noxema, to Clean and Clear, to Proactiv, to Aveeno, to Mary Kay, to Clinique. Nothing compares to Cetaphil. It's been 3 years, and I'm devoted to this product. In addition to a face cleanser, I now use it as a body wash, hand soap, and as a "cream" for shaving. It's my do it all skin cleanser. I've even converted a few friends to the ways of Cetaphil. I don't know HOW you can go wrong with something so versatile for a fraction of the price of everything else on the market.
It is an adjustment. It doesn't lather, it DOES feel weird, and how strange that your skin doesn't SQUEAK after cleaning. Because of the adjustment, I suggest getting a smaller bottle at first and making sure you can handle the NON-sudsing action. I don't wear foundation, powder, or tinted moisturizer, and since my discovery of Cetaphil (which did go hand in hand with my 3 month prescription of Accutane) I have gotten more compliments than ever on my skin tone and texture. I don't plan on switching to another cleanser, possibly ever.
