Customer Reviews of Conair CHV14JXR Extreme Heat Jumbo and Super Jumbo Rollers

Customer Review: Worth the results?
Summary: 3 Stars

Having had short hair for a long time, I'm new to the hot roller world. The good news is that that these rollers create nice strong bouncy curls and waves. The bad news is that they're a pain to keep in. Are all hot rollers this heavy? Anticipating problems based on reading some of the reviews, I ordered special clips. Conair Super Clips, Hold Hot And Cold Rollers 10 Pack
These help some--you have to maneuver the clips under the roller so that one edge of the clip clings to hair next to your scalp. Otherwise, these rollers just don't stay in. I finally got a super jumbo shower cap and put in on over the whole mess. I'd give these a 4 for the nice curls, but a 1-2 for convenience. If you don't want to go through what I did, try another brand.

Customer Review: A pity!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this product and have it delivered all the way to Singapore. I have been using Remington's heated rollers and I love them, but I have been wanting to have bigger rollers to create Victoria Secret models' big, beautiful waves. So I was really excited when I found them. Unfortunately, after the first time, the side of the rollers which was made up of the silver velvety material started to burn! I noticed it when it produced a smell and smoke! The rollers are in danger of overheating without any homeostatic control mechanism unlike the Remington's heat rollers I've been using. Once, the heated rollers were so hot it almost burnt my scalp. While I like the jumbo-sized curlers so much, it's a real disappointment it's so dangerous to use it.

Customer Review: Disappointed with item
Summary: 2 Stars

After reading previous raves on this product, I was so excited to buy it. Having naturally straight and flat hair, I would love a change with soft waves. Unfortunately, this product did not work well with my hair. As mentioned by others, it was hard to clasp in place, and kept on sliding down after I clasped it. There was little change to my hair. The most significant difference was the ends that were curled, but otherwise I would not see a difference at all. After trying it a few times, I just gave up on it, and quite honestly, I dont even know where I stored it. However, maybe it is only my type of hair that makes this product difficult to use. It worked for many others, so you may want to give it a chance, but I much rather a regular curler!

Customer Review: One More Detail or Tip
Summary: 5 Stars

This might not work for everyone but it worked for me. Make sure your hair is EVER SO SLIGHTLY DAMP before you use the curlers. If your hair is already completely dry it won't work as well. I don't mean wet or damp. I mean as I just said, JUST SLIGHTLY DAMP. It will set and hold better that way (Again leave in for 20 minutes). And when you take out the curlers don't immediately brush out your hair either. Just let the curls or hair sit there for 5 minutes. Then brush it out. If you want a few extra curls on the side or/and top try also if you have the time and inclination the conair curling iron, 1 inch for bigger curls and 1/2 inch or even 3/8 inch for smaller. If you want then spray it with a good light hairspray for the finishing touch. OK?

Customer Review: Gorgeous soft curls
Summary: 5 Stars

Reasons why I love these curlers...

1. They heat up fast. Usually I turn them on and let them heat up while I'm blow drying my hair. By the time I'm done blow drying my curlers are ready to go.

2. They create gorgeous soft curls. I'm not a fan of the tight Shirley Temple style, and with these curlers you won't have to worry about that. They create a nice natural curl that hold for hours.

3. The soft felt texture of the rollers won't hurt your scalp or crimp your hair in weird places.

...only thing I don't like is that when they get too hot it sometimes hurts your skin, but usually it's not a problem and I just stick a tissue under it. Overall a great product, Conair has yet to fail me.
