Ok so firstly, about a year ago, I guess I was going through some "teenager angst" hormonal stage, but I chopped off my long hair to a really boy short cut. I felt FREE without all that hair weighing me down. Not only was it fun to wash in the shower, but I didn't dread having to sit for hours every weekend having my mom help me straighten my hair or go to the salon everytime an event came up. Now, it took me less than 10 minutes every morning just straightening my bangs and I was set! Well, that joy slowly wore off and after a while, I found myself amazingly insecure about my short hair. It never felt feminine and I missed the feeling of long hair. I decided to grow my hair out.
Now those of you who you who have ever experienced growing your hair out from a short cut, know that it gets difficult after a while. Because your hair grows out into all these weird layers and it looks extremely awkward. No matter how tempted you are to get a haircut, you know that would defeat the whole purpose of letting your hair grow out. Even a trim is out of the question. Having short hair doesn't neccesarily mean easier styling. If you have naturally frizzy, wavy hair like me, it could mean spending even more time styling because you dont have the option to just pull your hair back and tie it into a ponytail. I would dread waking up every morning to a big poofball on top of my head, knowing it would ruin the quiet, peaceful mornings I crave and turn it into a chaotic scenario where I have to lock myself in the bathroom, straining my neck and frying my hair with my blowdryer and flat iron, while my family stands outside knocking on the door, complaining that I hog the bathroom. But it had to be done! Who knew hair could completely take over a person's life? My old iron I got as a gift for my 16th birthday (yeah, dont ask) That was two years ago, and I've been using it ever since. It's made by Vidal Sassoon, and it came with a blowdryer in this cute purple/silver color combo. I liked using it at first. But I noticed it never did the job I wanted. After a while, I just settled with my slightly straight, mostly wavy hair. Atleast it got rid of the frizz. But even if it was a little bit humid or rainy outside, my hair would curl back up into it's normal self. All that time straightening my hair was a waste. I realized my iron was to blame. It was too weak for my stubborn hair. I remember whenever I went over my best friend's house and we were about to go out, I'd quickly smooth out my hair with her straightener, and It did an amazing job! Her hair always looked so cute, even one day when we were stuck outside in a thunderstorm, my bangs curled up on me while her hair remained straight and smooth. It was definitely her hair straightener that was allowing her to not worry about her hair every 10 seconds. Mind you, she also cut her hair boy short and is letting it grow out!
The next day, I called her up and asked her what type of straightener she had. She said it's by Conair (this one) So I went onto amazon and read all these amazing reviews. I have to add, the reviewers also helped me to be more confident in buying this straightener...so thanks guys! =o) Anyway, I was planning to order it here on amazon, but then I saw it at another store, and I had to get it. Thank god, the next day I had a job interview and I woke up 2 hours before I had to go there to some sort of strange mullet afro. Normally, I would be pissed off! But I don't know why I had so much faith in my new straightener, even though I had never used it before....YAY!!! In about 10 minutes, I had this sleek, smooth, straight hair that looked fantastic, like I just walked out of a salon, and I did it myself! Little technologically, makeup, hair challenged me did it, so anyone could do it. My old straightener made my hair oily after one day because I constantly had to smooth it over and over again, but with the Conair straightner, I just smooth it over my hair once and it's done, so my hair is less damanged and I dont have to wash it as often as I used to. It's like a trusthworthy friend, and it makes my hair life so much easier. Now I can focus on other things too. The price is unbeatable, seriously. It's so worth it just to give it a try. The heat settings are cool because you can make it as hot as you want depending on your hair type. And it automatically shuts off for all those people who seem to always forget, like me. Oh yeah, it also comes with a little detachable comb that untangles your hair as you straighten it.
Ok wow, this is really long! But yes, that's my hair success story. Believe that if I finally found my miracle product that allows my hair to be the way I want without a bunch of stress, it's worth a shot for anyone. Have fun and Good Luck! :)
