I had mine exactly 3 years when it stopped heating the plates. The light would turn on, but the plates would stay cold, so I think it has something to do with the wiring. It happened when I took it on vacation, so it might have something to do with twisting and wrapping the cord around the handle (but what else are you supposed to do with it?)
On the plus side, it's SUPER CHEAP, and it made my hair super straight and smooth. I like it much better than my friends' Sedu or Chi. I also like the scissor handles... I felt like it gave me more leverage to squeeze the plates together. It heated up in less than 30 seconds, and it held up through 3 years of a lot of travel and abuse. So for that reason, I'm going to buy it again... and maybe be a little more careful with it!

i haven't bought this yet..but my friend tried it on me and OH MY GOODNESS!!! it works so well. i had bought this one other straightener..and i had to go over each strand like 50 times and it sill wasn't even straight. partly cuz my hair is very very thick. but still, after this i only had to run it over my hair once, it was so amazing i mean of course you have to use some straightening balm but it so doesn't matter and if you get a good kind then your hair won't be sticky. and seriously the price is so good, i bought that other one for 15 and it DOESN'T do anything. i am so glad that i am going to buy this its amazing!!! some people said that it burns out but if it does there's a 2-year warranty so stop complaining people and get another one its a miracle Review: Love this straightener!Summary: 5 Stars Just got this as a birthday present from my daughter, who has been straightening her hair for years and is quite the expert, and I am thrilled with this product. Nice wide plates work on large sections of hair at a time which is perfect for those with long, thick hair like me who don't want to spend an hour on their hair. Multiple heat settings - this baby gets HOT! My hair was so hot when it came out of the plates that it hurt my hands! My hair is very curly and it usually takes me at least three passes to get the curl out, but with this one it was basically completely straight on one long, slow pass. Nice and sturdy, and I love the finger rest on the end so you can use two hands to work. No need to spend tons of money on an expensive straightener; this one does the job!

for the longest time I have been suffering with trying to duplicate what my hair salonist does with a blow dryer and a hairbrush and I could never do it! My hair is light, easy to manipulate but reacts to any slight change in the weather.
So a lot of times I'd go into work with extremely frizzy and/or ugly wavy hair. But now using this flat iron no more! Even when it rains or is really humid it doesn't get all frizzy! I love touching my hair during the day now to feel how smooth and silky it feels.
I ordered this one based off of all the great reviews, and it was cheap! Now I'm adding my own raving review! This is a great product, I recommend it to anyone. It takes some getting used to, but once you know how to handle it, its great!

As I am looking for a new straightener I was surprised to find my current one in the top 5 bestselling. I had read all the reviews and did not want to spend the money on an expensive straightener and settled for this one. I used it a few times and it did the job okay for the price - my hair was relatively straight, although frizzy. However the handle is quite awkward and it didn't seem to get very hot. I began using my roommate's Chi and was VERY impressed. I used her straightener all of the time and now that we are no longer roommates I think I am going to jump on the bandwagon and spend the money to get a good solid flat iron. I haven't had any problems with this straightener (used it maybe 5 times??) but I just found one that is much better.
