Update January 2011: after over 10 months of use I finally had to change the batteries. Once replaced the music was back, strong as ever. Original review follows:
I like this little radio a lot. It's not perfect, but I give it 5 stars for what it does for $9.99. My favorite station comes in loud and clear while I shower.
The first time I turned it on I was in a vehicle. I couldn't wait to try it at home so I tried it out on the way there after picking it up from the post office. Big disappointment! The radio wouldn't stay on a station, too much static, and I thought I should have paid attention to the negative reviews. I was ready to send it back right then. To my surprise when I got home and hung it over the shower head pipe it worked great.
Tuning it can be a challenge because the knob is small and so is the band range (lots of tiny back-and-forth knob-turning); it's not digital, but once it's been tuned to a station it stays on it (until someone else fiddles with it). We use the radio a couple or more times daily and still, after over 3 months the original batteries are going strong (it takes 4 AAA, not included -- I use Duracell). The volume control knob has 8 dots around it, but positioning the knob just above the 3rd dot is plenty loud in our small shower.
You may need to secure it with yarn or nylon string so it doesn't slide down the shower head pipe when pushing the power button.

I bought to replace a Sony ICFS79W AM/FM/Weather Band Digital Tuner Shower Radio (White) which I had used daily for at least 5 years. Thinking that technology had advanced and prices might have decreased, I tried the Conair SR11.
It is light, ridiculously cheap (less than typical starbucks run) and the hook is convenient. That's the good news.
I wasn't expecting Bose quality but the sound (even in a shower) is horrible. There is no range. Voices are flat and tingy. The reception (which can be difficult in our area because we are close to TV towers) was equally challenged. Most glaringly after a few months (first batteries) the on-off button stopped working. I am now forced to hold the unit in my hand and push the button to receive any audio. This makes showering nearly impossible and thus it is now living in my trash can.
I will also say that I missed the one button convenience of digital radios. It's nice to quickly and easily switch stations and with soap in your eyes it's just not worth fiddling around with analog dials.
Going back to the good stuff... life is too short for this nonsense.

I got this radio to listen to NPR in morning while showering. I read the other reviews about problems with reception, but figured maybe they were out somewhere rural, and an urban environment would offer better results. I thought it was awesome when I first got it, but turns out the tuner is so sensitive that some stations tune out others. I even opened it up and added an extension to the radio wire, but this just made it SUPER sensitive; I get different stations just by turning the radio itself. The dial for changing stations is simply too small and the reception too sensitive to choose specific radio stations. Oh, and it went dead after a couple of days (although it could be the batteries, currently recharging). I guess it is what you pay for. If you just want some sound in the shower, or you want to hear the radio station with the strongest signal, this will probably do you right. If your taste is more specific, you probably should not waste your money on this radio, as I did. I would return it if I hadn't already thrown away the box.Customer Review: Not the best, but it'll do

I purchased this product after reviewing many other shower radios...more expensive ones that go for at least $40-$50, but decided that I don't really need to spend that much money on something that is going to go in the shower. This radio only cost about $10.
For $10, I don't know how much I can really expect... but I'm pretty sure I expected more than this:
1. The power button seems to work only after pushing it 4 or 5 times; unless what's happening is that it does not catch the signal immediately and it takes a few tries...?
2. It will not play my favorite local radio station, even though the station works everywhere else; therefore, it's safe to say it does not have good reception.
3. It has to be placed or hung a certain way in order to get good reception on the station that works well.
Overall... I'd say... it's OK for turning it on in the shower for a little while, but it is not the ideal radio. It's suppose it's OK for $10.

As the Blue Conair SR11 shower radio is identical to the green SR12 (obviously except for color), I am replicating my review for the green SR12 - it works & performs exactly the same!
I don't know if there is a quality control problem with this radio what with the mixed reviews, but I've had nothing but good luck with this device since my purchase in March 2010.
The radio tunes to ALL of our local stations beautifully & the sound is actually quite good for such a small & inexpensive radio. The push button on/off feature as well as the curved tuner & volume knobs are great for use with damp hands. The ease of use & the sound quality make the Conair SR11 better than any of the 3 shower radios I've had, one of which cost 3x as much.
The price for the orange SR14 just dropped back down & was available again through Amazon, so I've just purchased that as my third model in May 2010. I'll confirm whether the details match the others once I've powered it up.
