Customer Reviews of Conair SR11 Shower Radio, Blue

Customer Review: Garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

I'm on my third one, and will not be purchasing again. I had one that I purchased from Bed, Bath, and Beyond for about 4 months before it quit working. I never listened to AM radio on it, but it only worked on maybe 2 FM stations and the reception would go in and out depending where I moved within the shower....weird.
When it quit working, I purchased another one...I opened the packaging, and a knob had fallen off (it is glued on!). SO, I exchanged it for another one. This one worked for ONE day.
We also, on more than one occasion, would come home and find that it had turned on during the day while we were at work.
It's garbrage, and there is a reason it is only $10.

Customer Review: Good for the price
Summary: 3 Stars

We recently purchased one of these. As with most shower radios, it works best when you're touching the dial, then gets really static-y when you're not. Frustrating, yes, but technically the device does what it's supposed to do.

If you live in an area with strong radio reception, it might work better for you. However, we lived on the 4th floor of an apartment building in the suburbs and the radio didn't work well until I opened it up and added a flattened wad of foil to the antenna wire. Seemed to work fine after that. Cheap fix for a cheap radio antenna wire, though I wouldn't recommend everyone go tearing their shower radio apart. For $10, though, I will.

Customer Review: Excellent shower radio
Summary: 5 Stars

I've only had this radio for a few days, but so far it looks really good. The sound quality is very good, especially for a $10 radio. You will not have any problems hearing this radio in the shower. Half volume is more than enough and full volume is ridiculously loud. The dials are nice and big and easy to turn. The tuner is very sensitive and it's easy to find the station you want. The push button power switch is also a nice touch. The only drawback is that it takes 4 AAA batteries. I would definitely buy this radio again.

Update July 1st, 2009:
Just changed the batteries after about three months and the radio still works very well.

Customer Review: As Napoleon Dynamite might say...

"This is pretty much the worst radio ever made!"

I got this as a Christmas gift a little more than a month ago and I only used it a dozen times or so. Reception wasn't very good for music, but it was at least tolerable for talk radio. However, the volume would get really loud and then really soft and back to really loud without turning the dial. Then, just the other day, the on-off push button broke, so now I can only use it if I hold down the button. Unless I want to hold the thing while taking a shower, it's useless now. You might have better luck with this product than I did, but I would totally not recommend it, not ever for $10.

Customer Review: This thing SUCKS!
Summary: 1 Stars

Do not buy this if you don't enjoy wasting your money. I bought this same model but different color, a year ago. After two weeks, I could no longer dial in a radio signal. I tried taking it outside and within minutes of finding a station, it'd grow more distorted and "staticy" by the second until finally you could not hear a single word.

I tried hanging it by the metal shower rod in the hopes that it'd help capture a signal. I tried holding on to it and moving around the shower like the "Can you hear me now" commercial. Neither worked.

In short, don't waste your money on this. It's nothing more than a piece of garbage
