Customer Reviews of Dior DiorShow Iconic MascaraCustomer Review: The best mascara yet! Summary: 5 Stars
A co-worker of mine recommended this product not so long ago, so I decided to try it since it looked so great on her. I have always been on the hunt for next the best mascara, and I have tried a LOT of brands over the years including Lancome (Hypnose, Definicil, L'extreme) , Clinque, Cover Girl, Loreal, Maybelline, Revlon, etc...), but none blew me away. I really like Lancome's mascaras, however there is one problem, and it's same problem I have with all the other brands - SMUDGING. At the end of the day, my areas around my eyes get smudged and darkened and I HATE IT so much. Even when I don't rub my eyes all day, the mascara still gets smudged!
Well, this is where DIOR Iconic differentiates! It doesn't smudge at all unless you rub your eyes pretty hard. It still gives me the same effect as the other brands -- long, thick, no-clump, curvy lashes WITHOUT the smudging all day! I am Asian so I always need to curl my lashes for an extra lift no matter which brand I use. I find that if you warm up your curler before you use them, your curls will hold up longer and stronger. Sometimes I use the heat vent in my car or a hair dryer will do. It always works!
Customer Review: Oh how I wanted to like this... and didn't. Summary: 2 Stars
For me, this mascara was a huge letdown. Note: my eyelashes are thick, but could use a little extra volume and are on the medium-long side, just with very light tips.
I tried applying Iconic three different ways:
1. Straight away (no eyelash curling) since it's supposed to curl
2. Curled, minus lash primer
3. Curled plus lash primer
PROS:
-It stays on all day
-It doesn't smudge
CONS:
-It makes lashes feel gummy (primed and not)
-It does not lengthen whatsoever (even primed and curled)
-It's not a rich back (sadly, Loreal's black is blacker)
-The fact that it's supposed to lengthen/curl/volumize reminds me of a printer/fax/scanner i.e. it's a product that tries to do so many things, it falls flat in all areas
IMO, Iconic performed pathetically, given its price. Perhaps I got a bad tube, but I certainly won't buy another to find out.
Customer Review: BEST mascara ever!! Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried every mascara out there, all the sephora favorites and many others and this is by the far the very best!! The mascara gives you the longest, thickest lashes I've ever seen from a mascara and all without a single clump. I dont wear fake eyelashes as often now with this mascara, It really is comparable to a more subtle faux lash. The only downside is that if you have oily eyelids and dont wear any shadow/primer to control it, you may get raccoon eyes after a few hours. But I almost always wear shadow so it's not much of a concern to me. Also, while they tell you to replace mascara every 3 months I never did, but with this one you have to. The brush is like a rubber/soft plastic one and not the usual kind, so the bristles will start to stick together after about 3 months. But I guess thats not so bad since after that long mascara is supposed to get germy and not as safe to use. bottom line... you have to try it, you'll love it!
Customer Review: Dior makes better mascara Summary: 2 Stars
I have very puny lashes, and have found that Dior Maximize mascara is the best, color was rich and made my lashes look unbelievably long and thick yet natural, and I could apply another coat for more drama in the evening. It was also my mom's and sisters favorite... but seems to have been discontinued.
Dior Iconic does not thicken, or really lengthen lashes and the brush makes it hard to apply evenly. The color is very rich, it separates and defines each lash and makes lashes look wet, but doesn't hold the curl very well even after I use a lash curler, it is also hard to wash off.
Dior Show mascara is much better (next best since the Dior Maximize is discontinued) although it is not a rich black color, more of a grey-black.
Customer Review: Better than false lashes Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this mascara to have it applied for my engagement photos. The make-up artist wanted to put on false eye lashes. I first asked her to try this new mascara before we made that decision. She curled my eyelashes and applied one coat, she let that dry for approximately 5 minutes and then applied the second coat. OMG!! She was convinced! My fiancé was blown away! He has seen me with false lashes before and he hates them. He loved this look. It lengthenged and thickened my lashes in such a great way AND the look lasted all day until I washed it off! Now I am hooked: 1 coat for everyday wear and 2 coats for special occassions! I plan to wear it on my wedding day!!
