Customer Reviews of Dr. Bronner - Castile SoapCustomer Review: Unbelievably good soap! Summary: 5 Stars
Dr. Bronner's is really fantastic stuff! I keep find more and more uses for it around the house. We've gotten to the point that we have replaced all of our toxic synthetic chemical products with this! The only thing I find it terrible for is washing windows, it leaves a film and you spend more time removing the film than the dirt! Otherwise, this stuff can easily replace 6-10 products around the home.
Be warned of this Peppermint, even though the peppermint is natural, it is extremely strong smelling. So strong, it can cause irritation for some people. I tried to use it on my floors, while it cleaned incredibly well, it nearly ran us out of the house the smell was so strong. This is even with me diluting it to a massive degree. I would recommend Peppermint for hand soap, dishes, laundry, anything outdoors. But would use something like Unscented, Lavender or Almond for general house cleaning, body soap and shampoo.
We also found this product is fantastic for cleaning our italian leather furniture! Normally we have to buy expensive solutions to effectively clean it while not damaging the leather. This stuff works perfect on it. If you use this in the bathroom for hand soap you don't need any air fresheners after you have a bowel movement. The peppermint quickly overtakes any other odors. We now use Bronner's for cleaning our jet tubs. Before they were very difficult to clean because you cannot use abrasive chemicals, but Dr. Bronner's practically melts the grim and dirt right off them!
Finally, I have dry skin. Up to this point I have been using Ivory Soap and it is horrible on my skin. A couple days of using Bronners and my skin is back to being normal! I love how this product rinses off so easily and leaves no films.
Customer Review: So fresh and so clean, clean! Summary: 4 Stars
Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile Soap is the best soap I have ever lathered up with! I began using it about 4 years ago when I lived with my sister and she bought it at the food co-op in town (it was quite expensive). When I moved away 3 years ago, I had somehow forgotten about it--there aren't many natural food stores in the city I live in now, and I never saw the stuff anywhere. When I found Dr. Bronner's on Amazon, I flipped out! I bought two bottles (AT SUCH A CHEAP PRICE!!) and couldn't wait to receive them in the mail.
I prefer to use Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap in the Summertime because it will really cool you down when it's hot out. I don't have an air conditioner and my house gets really hot in the Summer, but if I just take a quick shower with some of this peppermint soap, I am practically shivering! In the dead of winter, it can be an unbearable experience if you're trying to take a hot shower and warm up because you will just feel cold all over again.
Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap is NOT FOR EVERYONE, however. My boyfriend, for example, used the soap once and refuses to use it ever again. He seemed to like it at first, but then claimed that it made his nether region "feel like it smoked a menthol cigarette", which I found hilarious... apparently he did not. For this reason, I give this soap a 4-star rating. If you have extremely sensitive parts, I wouldn't use this soap, and I recommend purchasing another Dr. Bronner's soap, such as Almond, Hemp, or Lavender. But if you want to give your sinuses a good clearing out, cool down your body and soothe your mind, THIS IS YOUR SOAP!!!
Customer Review: Nice and tingly! Summary: 5 Stars
It took me several years of passing over this product, because I was a little put off on the weird space-ship is landing language that is crammed onto the bottle. I regret having waited so long to finally give this product a try! I bought a small bottle on a whim, and brought it home and my husband said "oh that is that crazy soap you said you'd never buy!" Well... this crazy soap is the best kept secret on the market! I soaped up a scrunchie in the shower, and lavished the deep and exhilarating scent of peppermint wafting in my shower. My skin definitely tingled with a cool sensation. A word of caution to the ladies: make sure you are prepared for the cool, almost burning sensation that happens when you use this product "down there". I was waiting for a burning sensation to happen, but it never came. It simply tingled, like a cool winter morning.
This is not a good product to use on your hair - unless you have very very short hair, and don't require a conditioner. Stick to using it on the skin, and you will be greatly satisfied. My husband loves this soap and loves the way it makes him squeaky clean, but with a nice neutral after scent. The peppermint smell doesn't linger for more than about a half hour after showering. But it definitely wakes you up in the morning.
Customer Review: It replaces lots of personal care products! Summary: 5 Stars
Dr. Bronner's liquid soap is great as soap, but it also works great as other things. It can be used as shampoo, as body wash, as shaving gel, and even for intimate washing because it's so gentle. However, the peppermint can be slightly irritating and stings for those last two, so it's better to use another, milder scent like lavender. The best discovery I've made is the shave gel--just lather it up on the area to be shaved and even though it doesn't foam as much as other products because it has no SLS, it is non-drying and doesn't strip the skin completely of it's natural oil. For me it even doesn't cause irritation bumps after shaving anywhere (which regular shave gel does).
Another hint, if you use it as a shampoo and notice that your hair has a slightly waxy feel to it, use an apple cider vinegar rinse (just mix the vinegar and water in a bottle). Rinse it out a couple times after with plain water and it won't leave a vinegar smell on your hair. In fact, this soap leaves a pleasant soap smell on you all day long. Quite a few people have told me that I smell nice...like soap (which I thought was a weird comment because I shower every day but didn't get that comment until the switch to Dr. Bronner's).
Customer Review: Doc Bronner's Peppermint Soap - The Very Best! Summary: 5 Stars
This was THE soap to use by all of us former hippies back in the late sixties. Like a couple of other reviewers, I've been using this stuff for four decades now - it obviously works for me!
It's amazing how the best is usually the most simple: just olive oil and peppermint extract. This soap deep cleans; rinses off well; and leaves no filmy feeling. Effective and reliable - that's what I'm looking for in a product. It leaves you feeling clean and refreshed; it must be living up to the claims made by the folks at Dr. Bronner's.
I buy a gallon every other year - that's how long it lasts. Must be diluted (Dr. Bronner's recommends 18:1 - but I just eyeball it, maybe 6:1) and it goes on forever.
I wouldn't know about this soap as a multi-use cleaning product - use it on my body only. But folks claim it's great on furniture, floors, clothes, dishes, you-name-it; must be pretty good stuff.
Highly recommended - give it a try!
