Bronner's doesn't have tooth-coating ingredients found in even 'healthy' commercial toothpastes. But you say you -want- those? Actually cleaning teeth instead of supposedly protecting them allows your natural processes to rebuild enamel. There is still so much not known about all of the weird ingrediants in just about every other product. Perhaps the strange new feeling isn't 'nice'? You'll get used to it, and learn to love it. I use peppermint, as toothsoap and mouthwash, and have found that it gives me a clean feeling no other product does. Perhaps what others find undesireable about Dr Bronner's is exactly what they really need. I believe that it may be able to stop a cold before it starts, cleaning out germs and mucus in the mouth and throat in early stages of a possible cold. Some interpret this as an uncomfortable sensation, (it involves quite bit of spitting afterwards if the mucus is there). I tend to have dry skin, so I was buying body washes with moisturizers. They did soften my skin, but I wanted something that would just clean without drying. This product has lived up to the reviews, and the Vitamin Shoppe price is the best. I don't clean my floors, windows, dishes, etc. with it, nor do I use it as shampoo or toothpaste, as some other reviewers have. I never intended to. I just wanted a good bath soap that wouldn't dry my skin and this soap does exactly that. The peppermint is so refreshing, and my skin is simply clean. I can rub my hand over my skin and it doesn't "skip" as it does with some moisturizing body washes. My skin is clean, soft, not dried out, and it just feels healthy. I did heed warnings from other reviewers and I haven't used it on the uh.. more delicate parts of my body, due to the peppermint. I'm planning to order the Dr. Bonner's Almond as well... that will do great for underarm shaving and "naughty bits".
Customer Review: Holy Cow!!! My search is finally over!!!

Oh my gosh...I began my search for a "tingly" soap about a month ago. I did some google searches and found the best reviews on this soap. But I wanted instant gratification, so I searched out some "peppermint" soaps at the local drug store...bought the Method and some other brand that I can't remember. While they were great soaps, they didn't live up to my expectation. So being a "bar soap" guy, I ordered the bar soap from the Dr Bronner website...When I got it, I was SO excited, only to be disappointed after my 1st use...Surely this could't be the same soap that everyone was raving about. Where was the immense tingle???!!!
So I sucked it up and decided I would have to get the liquid version if I wanted what I was looking for...Lo and behold, it arrived today and I'm STILL tingling 20 minutes after my shower. I'm hooked on this from day one. A little goes a LONG way, and I'll get used to using a liquid from now on!!!

Dr. Bronner's soap is amazing and was a staple when I was at college. The peppermint soap is so strong that it tingles when you bathe with it--gives a cool sensation that really wakes you up. It can be used as toothpaste if you're in a bind, laundry detergent, and any number of things. But one of my favorite things about Dr. Bronner's products is the interesting labeling--if you've never picked up one of his products, then do find one and check it out. It has an incredible peace message and prayer of sorts for world peace encompassing the entire wrapper. His motto is "All-One!" It's very hippy and might not appeal to outright cynics, but as a self-professed cynic, I still like it and it's apparent why it resonates with the college crowds. That aside, it really is just terrific soap. Possibly a little drying on the skin, but leaves you smelling wonderful.Customer Review: so good, I'll write a review for it.

My friend at college brought this soap to school; her parents own a health food store. I've got the softest spot for environmentally friendly, organic, natural products, so I was more than willing to give the soap a shot. I can't even describe how incredible this stuff is! Just a drop or two is more than enough to wash my hands with, and the smell is absolutely refreshing. It cleans thoroughly without leaving your hands dry and artificial-smelling, which is fantastic. If your earth-conscious, give this soap a try. If your smell-conscious, give this soap a try. If you want a simply fabulous, multi-purpose product, give this soap a try.
And yeah, I did share a few laughs with my friend over the label. But it always makes me smile when I look at it.
