Customer Reviews of Dudu-osun African Black Soap (100% Pure) Pack of 4Customer Review: A soap that is perfect for temperamental, wishy washy skin! Summary: 5 Stars
This review is going to be lengthy. I want to make sure and mention all the pluses, negatives and tips that can be used with this soap, so please bare with me. So, on February 26, 2011 I attended a play with one of my best friends. It was a play about relationships, God and some other things. It was a truly good play and even though I am going through a very intense spiritual journey right now, I found the singing and prayer touching my soul and making me hope that one day my faith will return (I really hope that it will. A life without faith is good, but there is something about being a Christian that makes me feel at home). After the play, she mentioned that her brother, who used to have severe acne, used African Black Soap to clear it up and she also said that she uses it too. At first I thought "What the f***! Is the fact that I have acne THAT obvious?!" But after fighting my insecurities and calming my suspicious nature I really thought about what she was saying. She said that the soap cleared up her face along with her brothers. Now, I would never admit this to my friends face, but her brother is so handsome and I have never seen any amount of acne on his face. I guess you could say that I was blinded by the stories of his big heart and how smart he was. Either way I undertook serious thought on the issue. A few weeks later on March 12, 2011 I remembered what my best friend said and I decided to look up the reviews on the product. Seeing as I am ADDICTED to Amazon and currently a Prime member, Store credit card, and Chase Amazon Credit Card holder I decided to look up the reviews there (they are a good source of information). I found that the overall consensus was very good and one woman even mentioned that she used it for her hair (this is where the actual point of the post comes in). So with the reviews looking good and my credit card in my hand I decided to buy the four pack of this soap for $10. Now, I felt this price was a bit steep seeing as normal soap comes in greater quantities for the price of $10, but I figured if it worked the money would be worth it. Now, normally I would do one day shipping so that I could get the product sooner, but since I was going out of town from March 14-17 I decided to do regular shipping so it would arrive when I was back in town (a post will be coming tonight about the trip). So after the trip I came home and found my various packages either on my porch, stairs (my step dad did not go so he made sure my packages made their way to me) or in my mailbox. So, with greet eagerness I ripped open all the packages completely ignoring everything but the soap. Well, my testing of it was halted when my cable box stopped working (I have comcast and the xfinity transition is a COMPLETE pain in the butt), I made a quick run to my local Comcast store to pick up one. Once I was back at my house I tried out the soap and here is what I have found in the first six days of use!
When first opened the box the soap was packaged in I was assaulted by a strong smell (I can't describe it). I can't say that I truly liked the smell and I was worried that sense it had such a strong smell it would be harmful to my skin. But with the money already spent and in desperate need of something to calm my bipolar skin I gave it a try. The first time I used it I used in the shower. With the water on medium-high heat the bar lathered VERY easily and after getting out of the shower I noticed how my skin glowed, my skin tone looked more even and my usually oily skin was the typical mauve; I was thrilled. Now, I have to admit that using this soap tightens your skin but this is not a bad thing after having used it for the past 6 days. The tightness in my skin after use did not continue on to ashyness and cracks, it just made my skin firm and soft at the same time! From that day on I have washed my face with this bar in the morning and while I am in the shower. Now, time for the hair part of this review. As I mentioned before one of the reviews I read mentioned that the user used the soap for their hair. I did not know if this would work for me considering I am natural and the woman who used it was of caucasian descent; I am glad to say that she was right! The bar left my hair extremely soft and has increased its porosity.
Overall I am VERY pleased with this bar of soap. I plan to use it from now on and I simply had to let you all know about it.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:
Since the soap is brown it leaves a residue where ever left (this is remedied by cleaning off the place it is kept on a daily basis)
Along with the previous the soap leaves a brownish trail of water after showering (this is remedied by rinsing off the soap and placing it in your soap dish)
Use a chamomile wipe after use to add an even better glow!
This soap lathers in both cold and hot water
