I have been eyeing these for some time. I finally said heck with it, and bought a pack at CVS. After reading all the terrible reviews about these on the internet, I was expecting junk. I was, however, pleasantly surprised! I only had to practice 2 or 3 times before I figured out the best and most comfortable way to insert them. I have very fine, thin hair. I thought the comb would slip right out, but it was MUCH tighter than I expected...and stayed that way! I don't think these would work well at ALL if you have thick or super curly hair. The combs just aren't long enough to grab and hold onto a thick head of hair.
I included a picture above...that's how I'm comfortable wearing these combs. I haven't tried wearing them in a pony tail, or with only half my hair up, so I can't review their effectiveness there, but as far as holding a twist, they're GREAT. I was very surprised at how tight it held. I noticed some reviewers say theirs slipped out soon after putting it in...I didn't have this problem. Mine stayed VERY firmly in place for over 6 hours, till I finally removed it.
Overall, I definitely recommend these to women with fine/thin hair. I've been using the claw-clip for years, but hate how far it sticks out, making driving or sitting on a couch awkward. These are completely flat, and very pretty. Even if they end up breaking easily, I'll go right back to CVS and buy some more. I'm so glad I gave these a chance.
