Customer Reviews of EcoTools MINERAL 5pc Make Up Brush Travel Set 1213Customer Review: CHEAPER SOMEWHERE n QUALITY eh.. Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this brush set the other day for $13.80 + tax. Today I went to Duane Reade and they're selling it for $11.99 + tax comes out to be less than $13. That and you receive the product instantly instead of waiting for Amazon to take 4 weeks to get it to you, so if you're getting this product definitely check out your local drugstores. In regards to the product I saw at Duane Reade, the Kabuki brush can't really be considered as a kabuki brush. It's tiny about half an inch in diameter and has less "fur" than an eyeshadow brush, very sparse fur too. The only good point about it is it's soft. When I get the brush I'll try applying with it and see how manageable it is with the sparseness and update accordingly.
Edit: 5/16/2009
I got the brush 2 days ago (finally). The kabuki brush is the same I saw in Duane Reade. The brush was already distorted (flat) and refused to stay round even with a 24 hour shaping. The kabuki doesn't pick up product evenly. It tends to focus on the center and as you try to build more product into the brush the brush won't hold the powder. After one round of layering the mineral foundation onto my face using circular motions, the brush became extremely distorted. I think the handle just doesn't clip the brush that well.
I got this for the kabuki and I thought the other pieces were nice add-ons, but it really doesn't do the job. For $13 you can get a very nice kabuki and that's probably what I'll do.
Customer Review: Great brushes for a low cost Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these at Rite Aid because I was desperate for brushes. I liked the idea of bamboo handles and so these are what I grabbed from the shelf. I was surprised at how soft these brushes are and how well they put on the powder ( i use Bare M.). The only problem I had at first was figuring out how to clean them. Cheap brushes but I didn't want to have to keep replacing them. So, I bought brush cleanser at Sephora. It seemed to get some makeup out but the bristles never felt the same. I recently received Sigma brushes and did more homework on brush cleaning. A makeup artist said to put 1 drop of palm olive dish soap in a cup of water and wash the brush in there (dont put the wood in!). So, I thought I would experiment on these brushes. It was amazing! It took everything out. I had to keep refilling the cup to rinse my Kabuki Eco but it got everything out. I let them dry over night and they felt like they did when I bought them. The Kabuki takes an extra day to dry due to thickness. You could probably use your blow dryer to speed things up though. I'm so glad! I'm keeping these brushes for emergency, travel, or when friends are over needing a touch up. :-)
Customer Review: LOVED ecotools retractable kabuki & blush brushes, but not these. Summary: 3 Stars
i really loved the quality and feel of ecotools' retractable kabuki brush and tapered blush brush (they're SUPER silky feeling on the skin and have a good density) so when i bought these, i thought the same quality would be there, especially if they're for mineral makeup (which i use)
the mini kabuki and other larger brush do not have very dense bristles, compared to the other brushes i got. this made me pretty sad. they still feel nice, just don't serve the purpose as i hoped they would.
this sounds silly, but the mini buki REALLY is mini. so mini i haven't even used it. i actually used the larger brush for blush application since the bristles aren't very dense, so it works as a light applicator.
the eyeshadow brushes are pretty good. pick up product and seem to do a good job at application.
BOTTOM LINE: They're good, just not as good as their other brushes. namely: retractable kabuki and tapered blush brush (MUST-HAVES!)
Customer Review: so soft Summary: 5 Stars
These brushes are amazing. The connection from the stem to the actual brush is very firm unlike cheaper brushes so there's no danger of the brush detatching from the handle. The bristles of every brush are incredibly soft and supple. They put my makeup on smoothly no matter what the brand and expense. Even my cheap color testing pallet goes on smoothly. The bristles have yet to come out at all and I've had these for over 8 months now. They started selling this set at my local hy-vee and I got a second set so that I can have one at home and one in my purse for when I need touch ups at work. These brushes are awesome I would recommend them to anyone. And just a note for particulars the large "blush brush" puts on powder foundation like a dream. It blends and puts it on smoothly and using the brush over my skin is wonderful because it is just so soft.
Customer Review: Very Soft and No Shedding :) Summary: 4 Stars
I don't normally use make-up or any kind of product on my skin other than an acne preventer and lip balm so i'm not sure if i quite know what i'm talking about; but this is what i did this morning. I dabbed on some liquid foundation and used the powder brush to dust on translucent mineral veil, and the eyeshaddow brush and coverup brush to blend in some light color on my eyes and i think they work great. they don't leave lines, loose bristles, or unblended areas on your face, plus, they have very decent coverage and don't hurt your skin. I love em' and i doubt i will ever use any other brand from now on.
(P.S. I bought mine at my local Walgreens for $[...], and i suggest you do the same. You wont have to wait for delivery [...].)
(P.S.S. I think they also sell Ecotools at Target, if you don't have a Walgreens near you.)
