Customer Reviews of Farouk CHI 1 Inch Ceramic Flat Hairstyling IronCustomer Review: Wait, I just realized I could shower daily now. Summary: 5 Stars
My name is Kodee and I'm currently sixteen years old. For some very random reason years ago I stopped getting my hair cut and let it grow out. I didn't really plan it but once it started to grow I decided to just let it go.
My hair is very thick with a wonderfully depressing curl to it. Kind of like ringlets but WAY more frizzy and tangly..It's a disaster.
So I bought a flat iron. A really cheap one. It did the job but it took me at least an hour to get it decent. So I stopped taking showers daily because It was such a pain.
And then my family got really sick of having to be around a smelly person with half straight hair, half flippy hair. So they bought me a $50 flat iron.
It worked a lot better than the regular steel plated irons. But it still took ages. I always woke up with hair that needed to be flat ironed. And I still didn't shower as often because of the time it took me to get it straight.
And then, my friend moved in and with her came a Chi. This Chi to be exact. I had heard of this almighty symbol of celebrity perfect hair before but didn't really have the cash to buy one.
So I thought, "Why not! I want to try it!" So I took a shower, let it towel dry, and plugged the Chi in. Expecting to have to wait a few minutes, I went in the other room. I came back less than a minute later to find a 100% hot Chi.
I threw my hair up into layers and began flat ironing. Oh my...Buddha! This thing works WONDERS! It just gets it straight! And sleek! AND SHINY! AND GORGEOUS LOOKING!
With my old ceramic iron by the time I got all the layers flat ironed I had to go back over it again. And with the Chi, It's just perfect. Everytime. Takes me a max of fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes out of my day to do what once took me an hour...Is amazing. I'm half done in the time it took my old iron to even heat up.
The Chi...Is the best.
I'm going to be buying a Chi Turbo in a few days.
Please, if you have curly hair like me and hate it..And are sick of having to deal with the thought of flat ironing, buy the Chi. It will solve all of your problems. You will be amazingly happy. All will be bliss.
This product is worth every single penny. It made me so happy I cried. Because hair with the Chi used to be just a dream to me.
Kodee.
Customer Review: Wow... Summary: 5 Stars
I have struggled with my hair for years. I have very fine, wavy hair, but A LOT of it, so it appears to be very thick. No matter how nice I dress, my appearance always looks disheveled because of my messy, out of control hair. I use to straighten my hair with those cheapo flat irons. It would look good for five minutes, and then turn into a poofy, frizzy mess. I eventually gave up and tried to make due with my natural hair.
After a couple years of frustration, I decided to try a top of the line ceramic iron. I was skeptical about how good it would work, even though I had heard wonderful things and read these wonderful reviews. I thought maybe these irons work good on other people's hair, but couldn't possibly work for me. Boy, was I wrong.
The first time I tried out my Chi I was amazed at how it transformed my hair. It was very easy to use, and took me about half an hour to finish, as opposed to an hour with my old flat irons. The Chi slid down the strands smoothly, with no hairs getting stuck or pulled. Once I was finished, not only was it straight as straight can be, it was shiny and incredibly soft with absolutely no frizz or poofiness. It stayed straight until I washed it two days later.
If you want easy, beautiful hair, this is definately the product for you. But, I have several recommendations:
1) Use a heat protectant on your hair to minimize damage.
2) Watch your fingers, the iron gets extremely hot.
3) Keep the iron moving over your hair because it will get burnt if you "press" the iron on one spot for too long. The good thing about the Chi is that it straightens the hair quickly so you don't have to go slow.
My only regret about buying the Chi is that I didn't buy it sooner!
Update: 1 Month later
I just had to come back and add to my review. I have been getting a ton of compliments that I never received before, I just got a new stylish haircut that I wouldn't have been able to manage before the Chi. I feel great and look great. As cheesy as it sounds, I am a new woman!
Customer Review: Concerns about this "Chi" flat iron Summary: 1 Stars
I just received this flat iron today. I wish I had researched this further before purchasing because I have real concerns about the "authenticity" of this product. If indeed it is fake, I will be more than disappointed in Amazon for allowing the sale of such a product. I had not realized that "fake" Chi irons even exsisted. I guess I shouldn't be suprised as there are many "knock-offs" of high end products out there. That old saying "if it's too good too be true" may apply in this case. I went to Amazon to purchase this for Christmas just to avoid the hassel of running around looking for it locally. I was pleasently suprised that when I did find it here the price was much lower than I had anticipated. I ordered it right away, as the price was right and there was time to get it before the holiday. As I said, I should have done my homework first. There are fakes out there and I am almost certain this is one of them. I will be going to a salon to look at a "real" one and will compare it to this. I could tell right away that the box even looks fake. The iron itself is very light, and from what I understand, the Chi is a very heavy, quality feeling item. All I can say to describe the one I have is that it feels "cheap". I just cant imagine if this is supposed to be a 170.00 flat iron, that it would look and feel the way it does. I have also found out that the real Chi's have a 3prong plug and this one has a 2 prong. I also have learned that Chi is not manufacturing their products in China anymore (though I guess some originals were manufactured there). I am assuming that any "newer" models (that aren't used) would not be manufactured there any longer. This one is from China.
Anyway, bottom line is, I will be returning this right away and purchasing it from a salon. If for no other reason, the warranty is not valid from Amazon and even at 70.00, it should have some sort of warranty. So, I am very dissappointed . If nothing else, I hope Amazon looks into this matter to make sure they are indeed selling legitimate merchandise.
Customer Review: No longer a doubting Thomas Summary: 5 Stars
My chi straightener just came in the other day from Amazon...a gift from my mother who swears by it. I was hesistant at first, being one of those that believes most people pay for the name of brand items and not for any superior qualities they might possess, but I have to admit that this is one of those rare exceptions.
My Revlon straightener did its job, but on tough areas (like where my cowlick would sent my hair into an "S" wave) I'd have to go over twice or sometimes three times, and even then those same problem areas would recurl by the end of the day. I also noticed a large amount of static and dryness each time I used this iron.
When I read some of the comments online about the CHI flatiron, I thought some of them must be exaggerated...but lo and behold, the CHI actually does seem to lock in the moisture better. Maybe it's an illusion (I'm still not taking any chances and take weekend airdrying breaks and moisturize regularly) but there's not near as many flyaways, and my hair falls smoothly to my cheek with a healthy bounce and sheen. Another positive factor for this iron is that the bottom is slightly flat, so it's easier to place on the counter when sectioning hair or waiting the scant seconds it takes to warm up. My Revlon iron always rocked precariously on is rounded botton. The swivel cord base also makes it easier to switch from one side to the next. At first I thought the smaller plates would increase the time it takes to get ready in the mornings, but I checked and I actually got ready faster than with the larger Revlon plates. I guess I made up the difference in having to only go over each section once versus two or three times. The smaller plates also make it easier to hit those hard-to-reach sections and makes it easier on your hands since the unit is lighter overall.
I just can't say enough about this straightetner. For once the hype was not fluff. Worth every penny to finally be able to reproduce the salon look at home.
Customer Review: CHI no more... Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this iron about a year and a half ago and at first it worked perfectly. I have curly, thick hair and this iron managed to straighten it without any problem. I probably straighten my hair 3 times a month, on average but don't even waste my time in the Summer months because the humidity quickly makes my efforts futile. I was having a pretty good experience with my iron until about 8 months after I purchased it. It began to have a mind of its own. I would often turn it on and it just wouldn't cooperate when I needed it to. It still worked every now and again but I never knew when I would get lucky. My father and I took the thing completely apart to see whether we could find what the problem was but everything looked fine. I'm sot sure if I got a counterfeit Chi or what but I've recently thrown it out because it's so unreliable.
Needless to say, I wish I wouldn't have spent money on this iron because I bought it directly from Amazon and apparently the warranty is void when purchased here. I love Amazon but I wish they would have made that minor detail known on the product page. Aside from that when the iron did work, it did a stellar job and I would have probably given it 4 stars if it lasted longer. I still would have deducted a star since it doesn't have a heat dial; different hair types need different amounts of heat and they should give us the option to lower the heat if need be.
If you purchase it from folica, CHI gives you a 1 year warranty which I still find to be a joke since most irons, even cheaper ones offer a 2 year warranty. I just think CHI should stand behind their product and offer a warranty regardless of where it was purchased. Amazon is the biggest online retailer, it doesn't make sense that the manufacturers of this iron won't extend their warranty to amazon costumers. I'm giving it 1 star because of it's dumb warranty policy. I won't be purchasing anything by CHI again due to this experience.
