Customer Review: It's an ok product, but just ok.

The online description coveniently left out the fact that you have to soak this in water for two hours, and leave it on for 3-4 hours. If I had known that, I wouldn't have bought it. I know henna takes a long time to develop, but I don't want the color effects of henna. The description says, "alma darkens hair and bringjai (I know that's not the right spelling) makes hair black." So I figured that would counteract the redness of henna and that henna was just added to give conditioning benefits. Since I wanted to go back to my natural color of dark brown (I have some blonde highlights), I figured I'd leave it on an hour or two to see what happens. It also never told how much water to add so I added a 1/2 cup hot water to about 2 tsp. of product which was way too much. It never became a paste despite adding some conditioner cream(Queen Helene) to it.

I guess I'm just not that much of a natural girl. I don't like taking the time and dealing with the mess. It was very messy to apply - an arduous process, really. I left it on about two hours, and it did darken my hair a bit and turned my blonde highlights reddish. I guess that's better than the noticeably grown-out blonde highlights, but it's by no means back to my natural color. I think I'll do another application of 2 hours and see what happens. I just wish it would've warned about redness, since the labeling leads you to believe that henna is not the prominent ingredient. Those who are more familar with herbs and their appearance would know, but I'm a newbie to natural coloring.
