I just bought this product today (you can get it cheaper at Target). I was very excited because it got great reviews, and I have been continually searching for a way to put my hair back in a way other than a simple pony-tail which looks lazy and sloppy with my hair. I will say, that having layered hair, it can be tricky to make it work because you will have some of the shorter hairs that aren't long enough to fit into the pins. I still haven't gotten the low bun to work because of that reason, although I just got them today and I haven't yet tried it on wet hair (my guess is that it will work much better) but what I needed most is a way to put my hair up, or "hide" it when I haven't washed it that day. I have thick, coarse hair, and it doesn't get greasy very fast, but it does look slept on, even when I put it back into a pony tail, and I haven't found a way to put my hair up into a bun on a non-wash day that looks good....until now! I got frustrated this afternoon when I tried them in the low bun and it wasn't working. But I tried to just put it up a little higher, and that solves the problem of the "fly-away" hairs that don't want to stay in place. I just put my hair up three times in a row with these pins, and each time it looked good, and it felt VERY secure. As I'm writing this review, I'm swinging my head back and forth and loving the feeling, because I am confident that these pins won't come out. Truly remarkable, I have tried so many things that just don't stay in my thick, coarse hair, this was like a sudden miracle. I'm very excited to use them in the future. I might just buy a few more sets and keep them in my purse and car. If it doesn't work one way, keep trying different angles, locations, and all that. It took me about 15 tries to get it right, but I'm glad I kept trying.
