This stuff is the best leave in hair conditioner and I would not even attempt to grow my hair out without using it after every wash. For medium to long hair, a dime to nickel size is more than adequate. In fact, one bottle will last about six months with every-other-day use. If you are a person who does not wash your hair that often (many people with curly thick hair do not) then it should last longer. It has a very light and, in my opinion, nice scent. It looks and feels exactly like green slime but it goes on nicely and detangles, shines and adds nice bounce without greasiness or weighing it down. I always rinse my hands after I put it in my hair because the slimey feeling is kind of gross to me..but it DOES NOT make my hair slimey! The directions say to apply to freshly washed hair and comb through with a large tooth comb, then again with a fine tooth comb. I never do that..I just rub the stuff between my palms and distribute through my hair, concentrating on the ends of my hair. The directions do say you can texturize by lightly rinsing, but this stuff is so light I would be afraid it would rinse it right out! Sometimes I blow dry and sometimes I don't. Enhances my hair either way, providing more shine and softness, particularly. I talked the lady that used to do my hair into carrying this stuff and it quickly became a favorite product amongst her clients who have medium to longer hair. With very short hair, you wouldn't need it but if your hair is longer than say, 2 inches then you can benefit. My hair is blonde, fine to medium, I tend to have an oily scalp and I have a little body in my hair. But, this stuff as I am told by the salon owner is being used by ALL hair types for the conditioning and softening properties it brings.
