Customer Reviews of Infiniti by Conair BC173 Professional Tourmaline Ceramic Wet Dry Straightening Hot Air Styler

Customer Review: Works great but motor burns out quickly
Summary: 3 Stars

I really like the way this product works. I have fine, wavy hair and this smooths it out nicely. However, it's not that powerful a dryer, so I always blow dry my hair first with a regular blow dryer until it's almost dry. Then I use the Conair Hair Designer. What really bothers me about this product is that the motor burns out in less than a year. I've had several of these and every one of them has had this problem. I wish they'd make it easy to clean out the hair which invariably gets caught up inside the unit, but there is no way to take apart the dryer that I can see. I wrote Conair about it once, but I got no response. After the last one gave out, I vowed never to buy another one. But I have yet to find another product that works as well so I'll probably give in and buy one. However, I'm going to register it and if it fails within the year, I'll go through the hoops and send it back to Conair.

Customer Review: Works with very thick and curly hair!!! Amazing!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am the laziest person in the world when it comes to styling my hair. I also am completely uncoordinated with a brush and blowdryer. I have extremely thick hair (before my hair went curly - it used to take 3 perm solutions to have enough to do my hair). My hair turned curly after I had my son. I decided to try this product and it is amazing. I can fully dry my hair in about 1/2 hour. I did find that it was hard to get it to grip my hair if I just used it like a comb, but if I put it under my hair and used my other hard to press my hair into it - it worked great! Completely straightens my hair and I can even make it curl under on the ends. After your hair is dry and straight you can change the setting to cool and it even removes all of the annoying frizzies. I find that I don't even need to use a ton of product like I used to use with a flat iron. I recommend this to everyone!

Customer Review: I've "killed off" THREE of them!!
Summary: 2 Stars

Have to admit, I don't read directions, but I did understand it was a HAIR DRYER in addition to a straightener and knew what to set the tension knob on. But I can't understand why I have just returned my THIRD one and this time didn't ask for a replacement. I was too scared! The last two times, the blower on the hair dryer just quit and I saw an ominous glow inside the appliance....right before it FRIED itself and a little puff of smoke came out!! I have to be doing something wrong, but what?

Anyway before that happened THREE TIMES, I had been enjoying the results--I really only bought it to tame the frizziness on top of my head, but I did like that my hair was straighter and shinier, too. My hair is quite thick and a bit below shoulder-length.

However, I can't risk buying another one because I'm afraid it'll catch my hair on fire or something.

Customer Review: Great product - I love it!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Just received this and am VERY pleased with it. I have fine, thick, naturally curly hair with quite a bit of frizz, especially in moisure. Have combated the curl/frizz all my life - even ironing my hair in the 60's. No matter what product or combination of products I have used to straigten and soften I still would end up with this halo of frizz. This styler has all but eliminated that! It's easy to use - if you can brush your hair you can manage the appliance. And all in all it actually takes less time to dry and style than my old normal routine with blow dryer and flat straigtener. As an added note - originally saw the product in an ad on my browser, clicked on it which took me to the Conair web site. Conair's price was $59.99 plus shipping. Bought new from Amazon.com for $49.99 - with free shipping!! I would highly recommend to anyone and I recommend buying here.

Customer Review: What a piece of junk!
Summary: 1 Stars

Firstly, the box gave no indication that it was actually a dryer and basically the hot air (that wasn't even hot) heats the straightening gadget (which did a crappy job of straightening). I started on one section of my well towel dried hair and then kept working on it, and kept working on it, and kept working on it...it was barely drying my hair! The top part was pretty straight, but the bottom half of my shoulder length hair was sort of waved. Ugh, just a piece of complete junk! I dried my hair a little better with my blowdryer thinking maybe it was just too wet for the thing to handle, but nope, even on slightly damp hair it sucked. My hair is not even all that wavy; I just like the look of shiny, stick-straight hair. I feel sorry for anyone with curly hair and tries to use this. I am taking it back and getting a real straightening iron.
