I am african american and I have shoulder-length natural hair; dry, very thick and very tightly-curl texture. I decided a year ago to stop using relaxers and other chemicals in my hair to make it staight and soft. The chemicals where causing a lot of damage to my hair. Instead of using the chemicals I chose to use heat with hot combs, flat irons and curling irons. Every heating tool that I tried using just wouldn't get my hair straight enough, or shiny. I ended up spending a lot of money on brand name products that I figured would get the job done but they didn't. So, I learned about the Izunami from a good friend of mine, who is also natural. I saw how she used it in her hair and the way it looked after and I was amazed! I went and ordered it for myself and I am very happy that I did. This flat iron really heats completely to 450 degrees in literally 30 seconds! Unlike my other heating tools that took at least 2 minutes to get hot. It gets my hair straight with ONE glide, makes my hair shiny, and what amazed me the most was how silky-soft my hair was afterwards! The only down-point I would say is that the dial on the handle is a little hard to turn but other than that I would definitely recommend this product. It works great!
