Customer Reviews of Jerdon Classic JGL9W Lighted Tri-fold Mirror, 5x MagnificationCustomer Review: A Must Have For Flawless Makeup Application! Summary: 4 Stars
I absolutely love this mirror! I purchased the Jerdon as a replacement for my halo mirror and I'm so glad I did. I can see so much more of my face now! The lights are bright and the 4 different light settings are fantastic. Now I no longer worry about looking like Bozo the Clown when I step out into various types of lighting.
Another wonderful feature is the adjustable side mirrors. They help ensure the perfect application of blush and bronzer on the cheeks. These folding side mirrors also allow you to see clearly as you contour the sides of the face. I don't know how I ever did my makeup without those side mirrors!
The 5x magnification is great too. Applying eye makeup and plucking eyebrows is a breeze now!
The only thing I don't like is that the mirror's stand makes it a bit too bulky for my traditional vanity. Since my vanity is 13 inches deep, it sits too close to the edge of it. No worries for me though...now I have an excuse to get a bigger vanity!
Overall, I'm quite pleased with my purchase and have recommended this mirror to my family and friends.
Customer Review: Reviewing for my Wife Summary: 4 Stars
My initial impression was, "Wow, this is heavy"... as I wasn't expecting such a heavy box. I looked at it briefly before wrapping it up for Christmas and initially noticed irregular seam gaps between the front and back case pieces. I figured, oh well... it's only $35 or so.
Fast forward to mid-January and my wife really likes it. She was previously just using an oval mirror with a table lamp behind it. I purchased this for her because it seemed like the lighting and mirror setup she had before was inefficient. The light output of this unit is very bright and the ability to tune the color temperature pretty helpful. I've seen other units (Years ago, my stepmother had a very advanced one) that actually turned on different color-corrected bulbs. She had no issues with turning the unit on after I showed her she needed to briefly hold down the ON button to get the ballast to charge. (Thanks to other reviews posted here)
In short: The unit is WELL WORTH the price and despite looking like it's of sub-standard quality, it seems great to us.
Customer Review: great mirror Summary: 5 Stars
Jerdon JGL9W 5X Magnification Tri-fold Lighted Mirror
When my Clariol true to light mirror would no longer light after over 15 years, I was devastated. It was a great mirror. I hesitated buying the Jerdon mirror after reading some of the negative reviews. After looking at local stores and seeing only junk, I decided to purchase Jerdon. The best decision I ever made! It works great, the negative reviewers must have gotten a defective product or just lack patience because my mirror lights up in a second after pressing and holding the ON switch. It is not an eternity. The manufacturer has an instruction label above the switch, easy to follow. Like my Clariol mirror, the Jerdon has an electrical output on the mirror. It is so convenient for a curling iron. The light is just a good as my previous mirror. The magnification is better too. I highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Bright but a bit distorted Summary: 3 Stars
This mirror is very similar to the Windmere unit that I had for about 10 years and loved until it wouldn't turn on any more. The lighting on the Jerdon is clean and bright and the overall design is good. However, the quality of the mirrors is such that the reflection is distorted, especially on the magnified side. I'm not talking about the distortion that the magnification naturally creates. Unlike the magnification distortion, my eyes take a few moments to adjust to this distortion (sort of like putting on someone else's prescription eyeglasses). This is likely due to the reflective surface being of a lesser optical quality. So far it's the the best I've found without spending big bucks, but perhaps that's why some other mirrors are more expensive.
7/3/10 UPDATE. I have found the distortion the mirror causes to be too irritating. Also, the lights are taking longer and longer to turn on. I will be looking for a different mirror soon.
Customer Review: Junk Just As The Other Buyers Said Summary: 1 Stars
At 1st I thought this mirror was kinda nice. Not as lighted as I need but better than what I had previously. Set it up at my boyfriends for whom I only visit on the weekends. 2nd weekend, lights just shut off and there is no fancy way to get them to go back on. No holding the switch or any of the other bologna posted on the reviews for which I thoroughly read and based my decision on when I made the purchase. My boyfriend who is an electrician tested the outlet where the curling iron can be plugged in and yes there was power to it. Switch tested fine, Lamps just quit and no way of changing them without sending it in to the manufacturer according to the manual. What crap. Less than 3 uses and this thing is junk and of course I wanted to return it to amazon but I'm a few days too late so I'm stuck eating the cost. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS JUNK. I'm really tired of mail order crap.
