Customer Reviews of Jerdon Classic JGL9W Lighted Tri-fold Mirror, 5x MagnificationCustomer Review: nice light, but doesn't last long Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this about a year ago, and the light doesn't turn on anymore. The bulb is out, but it is hard to replace it- you would have to open up the whole mirror to be able to do that. Before I bought it, I saw the review here of a man who bought it for his wife and he said to just hold the "on" button and it would turn on. I think the model he bought his wife was another one because mine had an on and off switch, so obviously I couldn't hold it down to try that suggestion. While it was working, the mirror was pretty good, but the only setting I used was the "daylight" setting. The others were settings that I didn't need, like one that gave a green tint. The way it is leaning is pretty flimsy. I would accidentally hit it and it would slam down. It was decent while it lasted, but one year was not long.
Customer Review: Definitely worth taking the time to use properly! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using a mirror such as this one since I got handed-down my grandmother's old Clairol model in my teens. From the 5 or 6 models I have owned (all manner of brands and price ranges) this one is by far the best. It is brighter, and manages to reduces the "dark spots" that are so common in mirrors like this one.
The reviewer previous, who stated that the trick is in holding the "on" button, was exactly correct. I can see where less-patient souls may claim that the bulbs are burnt out or that the appliance is defective. More than likely, it is an operator error.
The mirror is sturdy and the adjustable angles are very helpful for using on various surfaces, such as when traveling. I will definitely look for this brand IF this mirror ever needs to be replaced.
Customer Review: Lighted Makeup Mirror Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this to replace a similar lighted makeup mirror I owned for about 20 years, a side bulb burned out. With this Jerdon product, I like the easy on and off button and the ease of selecting the proper lighting for the occasion. However my old mirror had a heavy bottom and the mirror stayed in place on my dresser. This new mirror has a really light bottom and doesn't stay put. I am forever sliding the entire mirror around so that the placement is correct for me to see myself. It is not the mirror in the middle I am having trouble with, it stays however it is positioned. The problem is with the entire mirror not staying put. It is annoying but I am getting accustomed to it. Otherwise the product is good and very much like my old mirror. I wear bifocals and can see perfectly.
Customer Review: "Long-lasting bulbs" short lived! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this mirror 5 months ago in spite of some negative reviews. I realize sometimes you can get your hands on a "lemon" and I decided to take the chance that the burnt out bulbs would not happen to me. I was satisfied when I recieved it and have been satisfied with it until one of the "long-lasting" bulbs clearly burnt out (gray at one end) and prevents the other from lighting. It began as a flicker 2 days ago, now... no light. No changeing these bulbs on your own. The manual says if a light burns out to ship it to them so they can service it. No offer of S&H paid for not to mention doing without the mirror for who knows how long. This mirror was a little pricer than others but you get what you pay for, right? Not! I'm going to Wal-mart to buy the cheap Revlon mirror. Grrrrr.
Customer Review: Just fine! Summary: 5 Stars
My ancient Remington makeup mirror with fluorescent tubes for lighting was the same style as this Jerdon. I had to go without a makeup mirror for a couple days until this arrived. I did an exhaustive online search to find an old style mirror. I hate the new round mirrors with halo lighting that one finds at Target, Sharper Image, Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc. I can't see with the new lighting. I am pleased with the mirror, and I can't tell the difference between it and the old Remington. I've had no problems with it, and it's better than anything else out there. I'm just thrilled to have an old-style mirror again! For the price, style, and availability, it's great! After a couple days without a lighted mirror, the need for tweezers really showed up on it! It works well for me!
