I love this mirror. The instructions that another reviewer gave about holding down the on switch until the lights flicker was right on.
My only real problem with the mirror is that if there is any backlight at all, you get shadows on the mirror. The the glare of the lights while the mirror is reflecting the shadows makes it hard to see. If I didn't have backlighting it would be perfect. As it is, I don't think any other mirror would do better. And this was a great price.
You should note also that the plastic stand is a little flimsy. It doesn't lock into position, just kind of rests there. So if you have animals or kids that are likely to bump it, store it flat, so that it doesn't slam down and break.
All in all, I'm very pleased.

I recently purchased this item even after reading some of the bad reviews. The good reviews convinced me to give it a chance, and I am glad I did. It is getting difficult to find this style of make-up mirror anywhere but on line, and I am pleased that I found this one at such a reasonable price (eBay is outrageous)! The mirror fits well on my dressing table, and the lighting is perfect. I have found that I only have to hold down the on switch for about 3 to 4 seconds (all fluorescent lighting takes it's time). The outlet in the front is quite convenient, and I don't think that the magnification side of the mirror is any more distorted than any other magnification mirror I have seen. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase, and would recommend it.Customer Review: Better than Most Mirrors

Ordered this mirror and for the first day or so did not think I would keep it. The magnification is 5X and does give one a good view of one's face (wrinkles and all) but find that fact that one has to sit so close to get a clear view disconcerting. Also don't care for the different light settings as none seem to be very realistic. All and all it is a good mirror and appears well made (I followed intructions with regard to holding the light switch down for full illumination) and have had no problems thus far. Preferred my older Hartman makeup mirror with the built in clock (handy for the am rush) but think this is an acceptable substitute and in some ways better (can see close up well which helps a lot with tweezing, etc. Would probably purchase againCustomer Review: Great for intimidatingly difficult eyebrow shaping

I bought this mirror because I wanted to be able to take care of my horribly asymmetric eyebrows myself but needed high magnification and good lighting to do so. This completely and totally fits the bill. The lights are plenty bright, though I may disagree with the very pink nature of the evening light setting - haha. I love the plug in the front of the mirror - it allows me to use my blow dryer, straightener, etc. even though the mirror itself takes up one of my outlets. I also really appreciate the warranty that comes with it. The lights are guaranteed to function for life, but if they don't for whatever reason you just ship it back to the manufacturer and they replace the lights for free. All in all, this was a great buy for an even better price.Customer Review: A Great Product

I have read the reviews from other buyers and I took a chance at it. For me, I found that this product is great and i am glad that I brought it. Although I dont use it everyday, It serve its purpose. Many had said to have problems with the lights staying on and turning on. It is written on the bottom under the switch that you have to hold the button for a few seconds and the light will come on and stay on. The only thing that I do agree with is when it comes to the lights being changed "if ever needed" we will need a professional electrician to do it...it cost a bundle just have some one come out and look at it. All In All, I am enjoying my mirror and I'm hoping that I would not need to have and electrician come and change my "lifetime Lights".
