I purchased this mirror for my wife, but I find it handy too. I installed in the bathroom on the side wall near the sink. Mounting location was somewhat limited by an available outlet, also I was fortunate to have a wall stud behind which made it very secure. The mirror comes with a flat mounting plate of decently thick steel and all mounting hardware if you need to put in anchors into sheet-rock. Then the mirror screws on very securely to two posts on the mounting bracket. I purchased chrome, and it is very good quality. The articulating arm and all hardware is very good and should last a log time. The mirror is 5x magnification which is quite close, the other side is regular flat mirror. It flips easily so you can use either side. The unit is well made and very sturdy.
The only "problem" with the mount is is only moves horizontally, which means you have to pick the right height to install it - it doesn't go up and down. You can though tilt the mirror down for shorter folks and up for taller.
As to brightness, it has just a single bulb (it comes with one spare), and I will say it's not as bright as I expected. But I'd also add that too much light might not work well either as you must place the mirror within 6-12" of your face for proper magnification focus. When used in conjunction with the bathroom lights, the lighting is fine.
