I'm 22. I have an oily skin during summer. I thought a primer would make my make up last longer. I trusted Laura Mercier, because it's a somewhat reputable brand. When I first tried the primer, I knew I hated that silica smell. It's very annoying. I don't want to put something on my face that stinks. When I asked the associate about it, he said the product is fragrance-free. I thought I'd still give the product a chance. I continued using it for about a month, and then I stopped using it, to feel the difference. There isn't any. It doesn't make me less shiny, or less oily looking, it doesn't make my make up last any longer than it naturally would. I just wasted 30 bucks to the peace of mind that I have an independent product that would somehow have made my make up last longer.
By the way, I used the product with Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in Sand, with Laura Mercier tinted illuminating moisturizer in natural, also with Nars Sheer Glow in Barcelona. There is no difference in the over all effect, or lasting effects of any products in conjunction with this primer, except for the unpleasant smell it offers.
Anyways, I grew lazy and never returned the product to the store. But I still feel cheated. I probably won't invest in Laura Mercier again. Even her tinted moisturizers slip off my skin after a while (and powdering just tends to make my face more murky with her products). I have switched to Nars.
