I bought this sunscreen because I thought all the ingredients were safe and natural but they are NOT. It contains caprylic/capric triglycerides and soy was (a.k.a vegetable emulsifying wax).
I found out on the Terressentials Blog that those ingredients are NOT natural: "So what are those mysterious coconut oil- or palm oil-derived surfactants? Surprise -- they're synthetic oleochemical detergents! What are vegetable emulsifying wax, fatty acids -- cetyl or cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, caprylic/capric triglycerides, stearic acid, etc.? These materials are all synthetic oleochemicals used as emollients, emulsifiers and thickeners. All of these are ingredients are frequently seen on the "natural" and "organic" personal care product ingredient listings of the products sold in the healthy, natural, organic and good-for-you grocery stores and on web sites. The problem is that these ingredients are not really natural nor organic! Another, bigger problem is that many of the surfactants and fatty acids may have toxic catalyst residues or toxic contaminants -- by-products -- from their industrial manufacturing processes." Organic Consumers Web Page: caprylic acid -- see below caprylic/capric triglyceride -- A synthetic oleochemical, it is often listed as being derived from coconut oil. It is a fractionated, waxy-feeling component of coconut oil and contains only small, saturated, or lower fatty acids without the C12 and C14 (lauric and myristic) acids. It is used in cosmetics as an emollient because it provides manufacturers with a long shelf life without requiring anti-oxidants and gives a waxy, less oily feel to a product.

The problem with Emulsifying Wax is that it's not just one chemical, but a cocktail of many. And these chemicals aren't required to be disclosed to the crafter or the end consumer. But I was able to track down the actual ingredients its made up of. It is typically a blend of: Cetearyl Alcoho, Polysorbate 60, PEG-150 Stearate, Steareth-20 ([...])
PLUS I WROTE TO LOVING NATURALS ASKING THEM ABOUT THE USE OF THESE SYNTHETIC INGREDIENTS AND WHY THEY LISTED THE INGREDIENTS AS "NATURAL". AND THEY NEVER ANSWERED. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS COMPANY IS JUST TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE WANTING TO BUY ORGANIC PRODUCTS, THEY DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH, THEY JUST WANT THE MONEY AND THEY SAY THIS SUNSCREEN IS 100% NATURAL/ORGANIC WHEN IT IS NOOOT!. THERE ARE FEW ORGANIC COMPANIES THAT TRULY CARE ABOUT THEIR CONSUMER'S HEALTH AND PROVIDE THEM WITH TRULY NATURAL/ORGANIC PRODUCTS, AND THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE COMPANIES.
This sunscreen doesn't leave your face white and it does protect, I used it on sunny days and no red face. But I don't like the fact that it is not really natural so I won't use it anymore. I think I'm going to try Badger Sunscreen it seems to be really natural I hope it works
