I bought this sunscreen after reading the rather favorable online reviews. I specifically wanted a lotion that contained zinc to provide physical protection in addition to the chemical protections provided. My dermatologist also recommends a sunscreen containing zinc. Other zinc-based sunscreens I've tried have been more fluid, and I was able to rub them in, leaving little or no "ghost" look. This sunscreen is extremely thick, and even if applied in small quantities, it is hard to rub in to eliminate the white ghost look. It also has a somewhat objectionable earthy smell. Thus, I would recommend to those who buy this to mix it 50-50 with a non-zinc sunscreen to make it possible to have the product's zinc protection, and to allow the user to rub it in better.Customer Review: Did not live up to reviews

I was not at all happy with this product. I have sensitive skin and have had skin cancer. The first (and only) time I used this product it caused a mild burning sensation on my face - not any where else. I also talked my adult son into trying it since it came so highly recommended. We were in a group of 5 participating in a canoe adventure and the others all used popular bands that cost less and easily available at any drug or grocery store. My son and I were the only ones to get sunburned. I have used other zinc and titanium sunscreens for years and haven't had a sunburn in years. I don't have a clue why a product so highly regarded by others did not work for us. My son was irritated with me because he hadn't had a sunburn in years either....Customer Review: The SAFEST product out there.

As a new mother, I am always on the search for the safest products available. It is a fact that we absorb a very large amount of the products we put onto our skin and I am amazed at the ingredients found in childrens sunscreen!! Our children come into this world pure, and it is our job as parents to keep them that way. Question the products you feed, bath, and expose your little ones to!
After COUNTLESS hours of investigation on my part, non-micronized zinc oxide wins my vote. Do your research, and then chose Loving Naturals. You can not find a safer sunscreen on the market.

Loving Naturals is at the top of the charts [...] for UVB & UVA protection/balance, sunscreen stability, environmental responsibility, and safety. My own experience, as a gardener in the sun for up to 4 hrs. a day, is that it DOES prevent sunburn and does NOT run in my eyes when I sweat! The only downside I would mention is that the zinc oxide stays chalky-looking, even with vigorous rubbing. That's fine for me working in the privacy of my own acreage; it may be a consideration for those wearing it in public. A little (plant-based) coloring in the formula would be an improvement. But this sunscreen is good for all that really matters--protection from the dangers of sunburn without any risk to the environment or personal health.Customer Review: Best on the EWG List by far!

Best of the top sunscreens on the Environmental Working Group's sunscreen test list. No question.
Check the feedback for the other top-ranked sunscreens. This stuff is not super oily (unlike most of the others). It doesn't smell bad (unlike most of the others). It actually rubs in completely (without excessive effort) so you don't look like a ghost and get white junk all over your clothes (unlike most of the others). It doesn't use nano-particles (unlike many of the others).
And, unlike many of the others, it's available in semi-reasonable quantities (5 oz, here) and for less-absurd pricing. (Unlike most of the others.)
Check for yourself and see. I'm completely sold, personally.
