Customer Reviews of Mavala Stop - Helps Cure Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking, 0.3-Fluid Ounce

Customer Review: It may cost a bit more than other brands, but it works REALLY well
Summary: 5 Stars

My brother and I have bitten our nails since..well, since we could remember. It's a nasty and embarrassing habit and I have now become a college student who continuously bites her nail. It's become so second nature that I cannot mentally convince myself to stop. I have tried putting nice nail polish on (which would end up being chipped away by me anyway) and even tried just letting peer pressure get the best of me. But, nothing works. So I finally gave up and looked for a Stop-Nail Biting polish to try. The reviews sounded hopeful so I gave it a try. Mavala Stop works as long as you are responsible enough to keep applying it every 4 or 5 days. It stays pretty prominent even after hand washing, showering, etc. I have found that it has kept me from biting my nails and I cannot wait until I can ween myself off of it.

My brother uses this as well. Don't worry, boys, it goes on glossy but dries off matte. So you won't look like you are wearing nail polish.

All in all, if you want to stop biting your nails and mere will power just won't cut it, buy Mavala Stop. Good luck to my fellow peers who have been a victim to this nasty habit.

Customer Review: GREAT PRODUCT!!! a must try

My son is almost 4 and his thumb sucking habit just got worse and worse each week. I am so pleased with this product. Once received, it was applied the next day. He had to drink a lot of water to get the taste out of his mouth, but it was well worth it. It's been about 2 weeks now and he's only attempted to suck his thumb first thing in the morning 3 or 4 times. GUESS WHAT!!?? He gets the yuckies in his mouth. He hasn't even tried to suck his thumb during the day. This is a process for him (and me) but this product is what you'll need to experience results! I also had been telling him that he needed to stop sucking his thumb or it will start tasting yucky. He will say, "Oh Mommy!. I've got the yuckies." and I know he's tried to suck his thumb.

A lot of people are saying that nothing gets this product off your finger nails. I have found that good ole nail polish remover does the trick. You MUST wash your hands really well after using the polish remover. It has the same ingredient in it to stop children from drinking it.....Bitrex. No please don't rub polish remover on your childs nails, it is not safe for them. I give this product a huge thumbs up!!

Customer Review: Did not work for my 2 year old.
Summary: 2 Stars

From the day my daughter was born she sucked her thumb. She is now 2 years old. The research says not to worry about your child sucking their thumb until around 5 years of age or when their adult teeth start coming in. To me that is way to late to stop her from doing this. I've purchased this product and another one called Thum. Neither of the two worked for my daughter. Thum makes the thumb have a hot taste which my daughter enjoyed. This product, Mavala, makes the thumb have a biter taste. Before applying both products on my daughter I did them to myself. I did not like either taste. I have not a clue why it did not affect my daughter. The Mavala does stay on the thumb nail for about 2 to 3 days, which impressed me. After seeing no results from either product I moved to putting her to time out. This has worked beautifully! It has been weeks now and no sucking of the thumb. My advice to parents with thumb suckers is to use the free methods before jumping into buying something. Try reminding them they are big boy or girl and do not need their thumb, rewarding them with a sticker and take away the sticker when they do suck thier thumb, or time out.

Customer Review: Stopped thumb sucking cold!
Summary: 5 Stars

My 3 1/2 year old sucked her thumb a lot. No, I mean a lot! There were times I thought she was bound to suck the thumb print right off her skin. We tried the "PC" method of offering positive reinforcement and giving her all the benefits for not sucking her thumb. We tried punishment every time we caught her (yes, I can be a bad parent too). Finally we tried the Mavala. That's the last time she has sucked her thumb and its been 2 months.

I know some people are commenting to only use a tiny amount and to be careful not to overwhelm the child. Forget that, I slathered some on her thumbnails once a night before bedtime for about 3 weeks (called it "magic fingernail polish") and it worked great! She put her thumb in her mouth once and only once. This was for a true chronic thumb sucker! The reaction was so dramatic that I tried some as well, think sour patch kids with a horribly bitter after taste lasting about 15 minutes no matter how much beer you pour on it (my wife was rolling at the expression on my face). All I can say is anything that could stop my thumb-suck-a-holic from even wanting to get her thumbs near her lips, awesome!

Customer Review: If you are looking at this product just buy it!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter has been sucking her thumb for a while and we were afraid it was going to effect her teeth as she has already got an overbite. I did research online and everything I read said Mavala Stop was the best. But, me being a cheap skate I didn't want to order it since it was from a 3rd party and didn't have to pay free shipping. So, I scoured local stores looking for it and couldn't find it anywhere. I tried some other stuff I did find in the store and about 3 minutes after application her thumb was back in her mouth. Finally, I gave in and ordered this Mavala Stop and we gave it a shot. We asked my daughter if she wanted some nail polish and she said yes. We warned that she shouldn't suck her thumb then because it would taste bad. She said she still wanted to do it so we went ahead and put it on her thumbnail. After a few minutes she stuck it in her mouth, but immediately took it out and started trying to spit to get the taste out of her mouth. She hasn't sucked it a single time in the month since. So, if you are considering buying this or another product to discourage nail biting or thumb sucking just stop your search and buy this product.
