Customer Reviews of Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment 3.4 Oz Bottle with Blue Box

Customer Review: Good but not the best
Summary: 2 Stars

I admit that this product is good but it's certainly not the best product out there for what it does. I purchased a bottle of Moroccanoil about a month ago after much debate because the concept of adding oil to keep my hair soft and frizz free is not new to me. I am currently using Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream and love the product but I finally broke down and decided to give Moroccanoil a try because of all the great reviews here and on the internet.

When I received the Moroccanoil I decided to put the product to the test to see what it can do, so after washing and towel drying my hair I divided my hair into two pig tails and used the Moroccanoil on one side and Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream on the other side. I then allowed my hair to air dry (as I usually do) and compared the results.

The result was there was not a noticeable difference between the two sides, basically both sides of my hair were soft and frizz free.

My second test was to use the Moroccanoil by itself, with no Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream at all. I washed and towel dried my hair, applied only the Moroccanoil and then allowed my hair to air dry. The result was some of my hair was frizzy, other parts were oily looking and yet other parts were soft and frizz free. I decided to repeat this test again later in the week under the assumption that I perhaps I used too much oil or didn't spread it out enough but the ended up with the same results.

The last test I tried was to use the Moroccanoil with Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream together which resulted in my hair being frizz free, and not oily.

The problem I have with Moroccanoil is most of the time it seems to work well only when combined with Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream and when I am able to finally get this product to work by itself the results are similar to Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream.

Other disadvantages I have found with Moroccanoil is the glass jar and the control factor when you pour out the oil. Because it's liquid oil (unlike oil in a cream base) I found that it's easy to pour the product out too quickly. Also the Moroccanoil is not something I have found for sale other than on the internet.

My conclusion is for MY hair the Moroccanoil doesn't spread well by itself and when it does it requires the aid of another product. The results are similar to a product I currently already use (Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream), is not a better price, is harder to use and is not readily available for purchase.

I'll be sticking to my Fredrick Fekkai Glossing Cream.

Customer Review: Surprisingly unimpressed

After stumbling across this product on Amazon, and seeing all of the amazing reviews, I decided Moroccanoil to spend the $35+ and give it a try. I went by a local salon, and they said they did not sell it, but that they had a couple of DermOrganic Argan oil treatment free samples sizes for me to try. Naturally, I gladly accepted since it was free. I have to say, I was REALLY impressed with the DermOrganic Argan oil - for all of the reasons that are listed in the Amazon reviews of their competitor product Moroccanoil. It made my hair healthy, shiny, and very managable. My hair almost felt hydrated when dry, yet very smooth.

Still, memories of phenomenol Amazon reviews of Moroccanoil still danced in my head, so about three weeks ago when my samples ran out, I purchased and received my first bottle of Moroccanoil from Amazon.

Honestly, I've been using the MoroccanOil product for 3 weeks now and I am not in the least bit impressed, and surprised by my disappointment. It doesn't make my hair nearly as shiny and soft as the DermOrganic Argan Oil samples from the local salon. It doesn't make my hair feel hydrated at all - rather it just feels like I have product on it. My hair actually looks a little dull! In fact, I'd say it's a step down from BioSilk (what I've used for 3 years) so far.

Even though I still have a lot of MoroccanOil left, I actually went back to the salon tonight, thanked them again for the samples they gave me before, and purchased a larger bottle of the DermOrganic Argan oil treatment to use instead. (As a side note, DermOrganic costs about the same. I'm a penny pincher, and normally I would just finish the product I have to save money. The fact I bought DermOrganic even though I still have so much of the MoroccanOil left is definitely saying something about my experiences with both products.)

Given all of the wonderful reviews of Moroccanoil, and the fact that most of the negative reviews of Moroccanoil were from people who had received a counterfeit from Amazon, I almost wonder if the bottle I received from Amazon this month is a counterfeit also. If I had more time to look into it further, I would - just out of curiosity and principal at this point. However, I work long hours and unless I get some free time, I'm going to keep using the DermOrganic argan oil treatment, since I'm really happy with that product and does everything that the reviewers describe of Moroccanoil.

All in all, I hope other buyers have better experiences than I. If not, it may be worth trying DermOrganic Argan Oil.

Customer Review: Real stuff GREAT... But Beware of Fakes
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been purchasing Moroccanoil for about a year now through amazon. It's difficult to get to the only store in the area who sales it. The real Moroccanoil is great. You do not need to use a lot (so the bottle lasts for sometime) and it improves the texture of my hair. My hair was usually dry and brittle, but this product has really provided moisture- without being greasy!!! It also speeds the drying time too somehow. I highly recommend giving it a try!!

However as reviewers have posted there is a fake Moroccanoil out there. I happened to receive it around May of this year, and did not realize until I was reordering last week. When I received it I was a bit skeptical because some of the liquid had leaked from the bottle. Also it tended to be a LOT thicker than the original and had a different smell. I thought they had changed their formula (which I didn't like). I was going to try and find something else until I saw the negative reviews and then ordered from the first supplier that I used. I did not throw away the bad bottle so I compared it to my recent purchase. There are noticable differences. The easiest check is that on the real product, above the L on the white Moroccanoil writing on the bottle, has a (R)- for registered trademark. The supplier that I know has the good stuff (who I will continue to buy from) is BeautyClicks. It may be more expensive than some of the others, but I am confident that I am getting the right product and will not have to deal with the hassle of returning it.

SO.. in conclusion.. The Real Moroccanoil is wonderful!!! But be warned there are fakes and you may have to spend more for the right stuff.

Customer Review: Made my hair dry and brittle!
Summary: 1 Stars

I decided to purchase this hair serum/oil after reading so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, it did not work with my processed-relaxed shoulder length hair. I had just shampooed and conditioned my hair with Hempz which I LOVE the night before, and hoped to give my hair, particularly the ends, an extra boost of softness. I visited a local beauty/hair care salon and used tried some of the oil. Initially it seemed to give my hair more shine and so I purchased it. I then applied more at home this evening and rolled a few sections of my hair in sponge rollers. I then decided to take out the rollers approximately 3 hours later after applying the oil the first time (from the store) and was shocked to feel how dry my hair was! This oil was paradoxically extremely drying. It cancelled out all the luxurious softness the Hempz shampoo/conditioner had produced in my hair, just the night before! I wasn't even curious to try this oil in clean damp hair. I surmise that if a hair serum dries out the hair when applied to dry hair, it would do the same thing even with damp hair! Also, even if this oil worked with my hair, which it didn't, I needed to apply a good amount. Finally, although this oil does smell nice, it's very overpowering, such that the scent of HEMPZ conditioner vanishes, and I only smell the oil. I personally prefer the scent of Hempz conditioner to this oil. Finally, I've learned over the years that the majority of hair serums/oils just don't work for me. To date the only hair serum that works for me is AG liquid varnish.

Customer Review: For hair as soft as a bunny's tail

I've had my eye on this product for a while now but I was trying to finish up some of my other hair products before getting yet another thing that would add to my large collection of cosmetics and potions. My mom was sweet enough to give this to me as a gift so of course I had to use is asap, there was no way I was going to wait while it sat on my shelf! This turned out to be such a great surprise, this really works wonders. Let me say right away that men and women can both use it, its not something that only half of us can enjoy, I think my friend Danny who's also a hair product fanatic will really like this!

Rich in vitamin E, carotene, phenolic acid and essential fatty acids, argan oil is one of the rarest but most valuable cosmetic ingredients. This turns hair into silk, few small drops is all I need in the morning on freshly washed hair that's still wet or damp, and it vanished instantly, never making my hair greasy or heavy. When I wash it the next day I can still feel the extra softness but it's so marvelous that I tend to use it every day. So far in my life I haven't used an oil based product that vanishes so well, this really leaves no greasy residue whatsoever and the hair feels like spun silk, even my damaged ends feel more light and wispy, sometimes I feel like I cant stop touching my hair, to someone who doesn't know how well this works I might appear to have a disorder where my arm flies up to my hair all the time....
