This is my second go-around with Murad's Acne Complex. I used it for the first time about three years ago, but I stopped using it because of cost. I decided to start using it again because I am standing up in a wedding, and I really didn't want to see photos of myself covered in acne.
For background, I'm a 25 year old woman, and I've had acne since I was about 11 years old. I have hormonal issues and my body produces too much androgen; acne is a common side-effect of my disorder. I've used pretty much every acne product available with the exception of accutane. That list includes Differin, Retin A, Philosophy, AcneFree, and Proactiv. The different stuff I've used has had varying efficacy. The Proactiv made my face hurt. The Philosophy cleared up my acne, but the lotion wasn't thick enough to fix the dryness. The prescriptions made me smell and it didn't really work.
The Murad, on the other hand, works amazingly well. I've been using Murad for less than 5 days, and my face is much clearer. I had acne over my entire face, and much of it has cleared up. My blackheads are almost completely gone at this point. I fully expect that my face will be as clear as it was last time by the wedding in two weeks.
I know that some people have complained that it burns. The acne exfoliating gel doesn't burn me, but it definitely occasionally tingles. It's nothing unbearable for me.
The bottom line is, Murad isn't going to work for everyone. I know that I have friends who swear by Proactiv. But if you've tried other stuff, and it hasn't worked, I would definitely recommend trying Murad.
