Customer Review: Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap - Great Stuff

The absurd, disjointed ramblings of the deceased Dr. Bronner which are printed on the containers of his products are likely the only thing that keeps this product from being much more popular. But that may be a blessing in disguise, as enough people buy it anyway that it manages to stay on the shelves, but it is still probably considered small-potatoes enough that the big-business companies don't bother trying to force them out of existance.
Label aside, the actual product is great. You will feel very clean and vigorously refreshed, and the soap lasts seemingly forever. Plus, it works great as both a body soap, and as shampoo. Furthermore, when used as a shampoo, though it does a bang-up job of getting your hair perfectly clean, but it doesn't leave it a frizzy haystack.
Some people fear using the peppermint soap, as it can leave a burning sensation on more sensative areas of the body. If you rinse these areas quickly enough, you may get a strong tingling, and it may be a bit unpleasant for a moment, but not painful, and it will not last longer than a few short moments. Just exersize caution.
The first time I bought a bottle of the liquid soap, I bought a 16 oz bottle, which by the time it ran out, had lasted so long, I couldn't even remember where I had purchased it or even vaguely how long I had had it.
As long as they keep making this stuff, kooky labels notwithstanding, I will never buy another brand of soap. And if you're afraid that your houseguests are going to think you're a hippie or a religious wacko, just use the bottle as a conversation peice to diffuse the association. "Hey, did you happen to see the label on this soap I bought? Isn't that wild? That guy sure was crazy, but man, he made great soap!"

This product is by far the best soap for bathing. I use it by putting just a small squirt onto a scrubby, which foams up into a massive amount of suds -I probably end up using more than I need with this method but it's quick and convenient for me. You will notice after using this soap that you don't need skin lotion anymore - you don't suffer dryness, cracking etc. especially caused by mass-produced products full of chemicals. All of the different soap scents are wonderful and have a noticeable difference. Peppermint will truly make you feel much cooler, and is what I use during the summer. Eucalyptus makes you feel warmer and clears your sinuses and I like it during the winter. Lavendar is very soothing and relaxing; and rose induces a happy state of mind. Really! Also this product can be used for tons of other things around the house and is far superior to other products I've used. I always use it to do my laundry since you need so little (maybe 1/8 cup or even less) per load, and no matter how dirty the laundry is it comes out clean, soft, smelling fresh, and without causing any skin irritation from chemical detergents. It's the absolute best for cleaning silks and cashmeres etc. You can clean anything with this stuff. I've also used it very dilute as a pest spray for my garden etc. Possibilities will occur to you as you experiment with it. The product is made by a very nice group of spiritual folks who are carrying on the philosophies of Dr. Bronner as printed on his labels, and they strictly adhere to green practices and ingredients. They've been making this for a very long time and hopefully will continue on forever! I got hooked on this soap years ago when I had nothing else to wash anything with. I've used it to wash my hair (though not as thoroughly as a harsher shampoo), brush my teeth, do my laundry and scrub my butt and I've never had dry skin as a result of this soap. When I have difficulty waking up, I hop in the shower, lather up in peppermint and turn the temperature down to cool in the shower. You feel like you're skiing in your underwear through the Swiss Alps or something similar. Imagine that minty fresh feeling in your mouth right after you brush your teeth and apply it to your entire body. It's quite invigorating.
My only complaints are it has a shorter shelf life compared to other soaps. It congeals and remains as a blob of wax like stuff if you don't use it all soon enough. It can still be coaxed out and used, but at a greater expense of time and effort. It also isn't quite hardy enough to make you feel like certain things are as clean as they ought to be. The obvious reason being that this is a gentle soap, so if your hair is covered in mud, you might want to deploy some reinforcements.
All in all a fabulous product. Oh, and you can spend hours just reading that bizarre label.

I absolutely love Dr. Bronner's!!! I just started using his soap about a month ago and I'm extremely happy I switched!! I own a home/ office cleaning company and use ONLY Dr. Bronner's soap for practically everything, except glass/mirrors.
My family loves the Peppermint, Almond & Lavender scented soaps, they're tingly and make you feel cool and clean, and in my opinion, the peppermint scent is out of this world! We use these soaps for everything but brushing our teeth. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try it... ;0) I tried it as a shampoo on my long hair and it felt weird, I can't explain the feeling, but after shampooing I used Aubrey Organics Rose Mosqueta conditioner and my hair felt wonderful, & smelled wonderful too. If you do use Dr. Bronner's soap as a shampoo you'll definitely need a good conditioner, (in my opinion). It really is a wonderful product with way more than 18 uses, not to mention the gratification you get knowing your saving the planet!! I recommend it to anyone and everyone that is willing to listen! If Amazon allowed me to give more than 5 stars I definitely would!

We have been using Dr. Bonner soap for years....not only the liquid, but also the Dr. Bonner Castile soap that I recently found!! I love all of Dr. Bonner's soaps. The peppermint is our personal favorite because of the "tic tac in your mouth and get a bang out of life" feeling it gives your entire body. I have no problem using it from head to toe - it feels good all over - tingly, invigorating, and very refreshing. It lathers nicely and smells heavenly.
I have never seen the gallon bottles - so I will definitely start purchasing from amazon! I keep soap dispensers at all the sinks and in the showers/tubs - and I keep them filled with Dr. B.
I sometimes like to use bar soap - and that was why I was so excited to find Dr. Bonner's Castile soap! The packaging is just as it was over 50 years ago, when my grandparents used it!
I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and cannot use anything fragranced - this is the perfect solution for me, my family, our home and the planet.
I think you will be very pleased with this product.
