Customer Review: Confused by the Negativity on this Site

I've used this product for about 6 months, and I think it is fabulous. It is really light and while it does have a mild smell that reminds me a little of old-fashioned cold cream, it really is mild and goes away as soon as it dries on your face. You do have to wait a bit to apply makeup after you put it on, but that isn't a big deal. I just get a cup of coffee while I wait. I really love this product. I've never got a rash or watery eyes or had it make me break out, and it is very soft. My skin is very sensitive and I get acne, but I've never had a problem with this product. I'm confused as to whether there was a bad batch circulated by amazon, b/c i don't get the reviews here. Also, i can't imagine this product getting flaky near the end as someone said; it is always smooth and soft I'm at the end of my jar now. I really cannot believe the poor reviews I have just read about this product! Surely most of these people must be using something different - I have used Hope in a Jar for over 2 years now and my skin has never been better. I am 43, I previously suffered from extremely sensitive/touchy dry skin prone to breakouts and have found this to be the perfect remedy for it. The texture is great - sinks in very quickly, and a little goes a long way. As for the smell - I am known to have a really strong sense of smell (there are not many perfumes I can wear as they make me feel ill and headachy)there is nothing offensive about the smell of this cream at all, it's very slight and disapears as soon as you've applied it.
I would highly recommend trying this for yourselves, don't be put off by these awful reviews. Hope in a Jar is wonderful!

Why would a company put such a heavy perfume in a facial moisturizer? It seems that the majority of the negative reviews are because of the odor.
I usually use Clinique, or Bare Minerals which is completely fragrance-free. Even then, I sometimes get reactions (usually to chemical sunscreens that are in a lot of day creams).
This product is not a good choice for women who have sensitive skin. It didn't make me break out, because it actually burned and I had to take it off immediately. This product contains Diazolidinyl Urea which is irritating to a lot of people (including me).
Conclusion: Lots of good reviews, so I guess it's worth a try, but skip it if you don't like perfumed moisturizers.

I recently bought a sample size of this product to try it out, based on the reviews on this site. I will have to say it didn't live up to the highest reviews given, for a couple reasons.
1. The scent. It smells soapy, and that's really not the most pleasant smell to put on your face daily. I think it's supposed to be unscented but that's not the case.
2. It has no sunscreen, so you wouldn't want to use this for day wear. As a night time moisturizer, it's a bit on the light side.
On the plus size, it was very gentle on my skin and did seem to help keep my face moisturized. I applied this lotion after rinsing my face in the morning, then applied a daily sunscreen on top a few minutes later to protect my skin.
