Customer Review: Beautiful when worn with restraint!

While I am a connoisseur of distinctive, old-school, controversial fragrances, I didn't like Red Door at all the first few times I tried it. I found the anise note nauseating, almost like the sawdust that school janitors sprinkle when someone loses their lunch. I also found the orchid note too indolic, deep and musty. But I've tackled the likes of Youth-Dew and Aromatics Elixir, both of which require significant "getting used to" (and some practice with proper application), and I've grown to enjoy them both. So I decided to just work patiently with Red Door before giving up. I am very glad I did! The secret, for me, is in very judicious application. I use the dab-on parfum, just a couple of drops. I don't bother with the spray because it invariably overdoses me. Used in this way, Red Door really is a glorious signature scent for someone who loves glamorous, provocative, dressed-up fragrance. It's a full-on bouquet of roses, warmed with honey and spice, which leaves a purringly deep trail of pure womanhood. The juxtaposition of the fresh florals and the incense-y, velvety basenote make this a true classic, along similar lines to Ungaro Diva and Giorgio Red.
