Customer Reviews of Revlon RV544 1875 Watt Tourmaline Ionic Lightweight Dryer, Silver/Black

Customer Review: Light and Effective--Great Buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was a skeptic when it came to hairdryers--they all blow air into your hair and it dries, right? Not so! The technology in this hair dryer is tourmaline ionic, meaning it reduces static, frizz, and boosts shine. I had a vidal sassoon before, and a Conair before that, and they were supposedly "ionic" but my hair was still quite a bit frizzy afterwards.

This Revlon is amazing, though--my hair is so straight, sleek, and shiny, without having to apply a bunch of creams or shining sprays. It saves a lot of time! It comes with two attachments (diffuser, concentrator)--I've only used the concentrator to straighten my hair and it takes around six minutes and works effectively.

Also, a HUGE bonus is its lightweight! The comparable Conair version (nearly same price, ionic) is so so much heavier, while this hairdryer is easy to move, so I can pick it up and use it all over my hair.
The only con about this as others have mentioned is that you have to hold it carefully or else your fingers will accidentally turn the hairdryer off--the buttons move easily and are near where you place your fingers to hold it.

Bottom Line: This is the best hairdryer for the price. When I used other hairdryers, my hair is very noticeably frizzier and less shiny compared to this Revlon. It's a reasonable price for the technology, and I definitely recommend it!!

Customer Review: Not for a professional. For home use - yes.
Summary: 3 Stars

I am a hair stylist and during the middle of a very busy Saturday my over 2 yr old T3 went quiet and was not putting out any heat. Knowing I had to have another hair dryer by the middle of the week I went into action finding a replacement. I stumbled upon this hair dryer and many reviews claiming it's qualities and how much it is a less expensive T3 with all the same qualities as the T3- WRONG! It does not dry the hair as well, causes a lot more friziness, takes a very long time to dry hair, the cord is MUCH TOO MUCH too short, weighs more, is louder, and just does not leave the hair looking as shiny. I am really disappointed with it and all the reviews (on many websites) that made it sound like something it is not. In the dryer's defense; I know it is NOT a professional dryer and it was simply a quick fix until I could get another T3 and if I were to just use it at home I would probably be quite happy with it not expecting "professional" results. There is a CLEAR difference in the results from one to the other. Again, I know it is not a "professional" hair dryer so I would say the average person leaving behind a regular (non ionic or tourmaline) hair dryer will definitely see the difference once they start using this dryer but for me, a professional who puts a lot of effort into blow dries, it was "ok" until I got my T3 back!

Customer Review: Best hair dryer ever
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great dryer and the price makes it even better since it's performance compares really well with the more expensive dryers. I have shoulder length relaxed hair with fine strands & medium density and I was able to dry my hair using the warm heat & hi fan speed combo in around 15 minutes. It left my hair silky smooth & full of body and best of all ... my arm wasn't tired!!

You've probably guessed already, but my favourite feaures about this dryer are:
- lightweight - it actually is light compared to other dryers
- the dual settings - they allow you to combine the desired heat setting (hot/warm) with the fan speed (hi/low). This is great for people like me who absolutely cannot stand a hot dryer but don't have the patience with the diminished air flow of the lower settings.
- ionic technology - leaves your hair so smooth and shiny with lots of body and anyone with my type of hair knows that achieving volume is a minor miracle all by itself.
- design - fits comfortably in your hand, the buttons are easy to get to and well placed so that you don't accidentally change the setting. It also has a hinged endcap to make cleaning the unit easy, which I'm sure I'll appreciate after I've had it a while.

Customer Review: One of the best purchases I've made this year
Summary: 5 Stars

I read a ton of reviews on this hairdryer before I bought it, so naturally I was concerned with the few minor people out there that gave 'negative' reviews...but with the overall great ratings on this, I went ahead and bought it since it met all of my criteria, which were 1. Light, 2. Less noisy, 3. Some kind of ionic smooth hair function (even if it was 99% hype I STILL wanted it), and 4. super EASY buttons to use (because I hate the slider ones that are tougher to change).

This thing is the lightest hairdryer I've come across...and I HELD all the ones opened on the sales floor at my local Target to compare how weighty each felt! Also, this hairdryer was bought to replace an aging one I've had, which started to have sparks flying out of it...and compared to that one, this is significantly less noisy. I've been using this dryer for the past three months now, and for it being under $20 I think this purchase is a steal.

Yes, every now and then while drying my hair I'll accidentally trip one of the buttons from high to low...but the tradeoff is acceptable and I wouldn't change a thing about the design- I love how easy it is to change settings. It's just a matter of holding it carefully so it doesn't happen again.

Customer Review: What's wrong with this hair dryer???
Summary: 1 Stars

After many years of daily service, my old Revlon 1875, Model #473 finally stopped running. Without hesitating I went out to buy what I thought would be a "new-and-improved" version of the same dryer. What I found was a product with no resemblance, except for the name.

The ONLY good thing I can say about his new dryer, Model RV544, is that it dries my hair much faster than the old one did. But the result is disastrous. I have short, straight hair that is well-styled. This dryer leaves my hair limp, with no body. I used the "cold shot" setting on the old dryer to give my hair lift; on the new model it's a useless feature. The attachments are also useless, at least for me. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but after using this dryer every day for a week, trying various combinations of heat/speed settings, I'm going to pack it up and return it.

Another note -- I tried to find a website so I could write to the manufacturer. It's odd that there is no such website. The name "Revlon" means nothing on this piece of equipment, because it's made in China by "Helen of Troy" so no one is even taking responsibility for this worthless item. Just goes to show ya -- sometimes newer does NOT equal better.
