Customer Review: It's great but don't expect a miracle.....

So, this was my first high end flat iron, and I can't believe three years ago I threw away a 1.5 " sedu because of a cord problem!! I was so stupid. Anyways, I bought the 1" afterward and I thought it was the best of the best .... but since trying ghd, I'll never go back. I've been a loyal sedu fan (even got my sister hooked to it) for years, and honestly I've opened my eyes to better options. This and the chi are the same, but I can't get pin straight locks on MY hair- other people's hair will come out poker straight (even if I flat iron their hair myself) but for some weird reason, I can't achieve that look- and my hair is naturally straight with just a slight wave to it! The CHI does get my hair poker straight, but it leaves my ends fried, so I don't like it. My sister has a 1.5" sedu and I can tell you 2.5 years since she bought her sedu, it has acquired a mysterious "burnt hair" smell when it's turned on and I'm so sure it's the thin layer of ceramic slapped on this cheap iron! I tried to love it, but honestly it's not better than a $60 iron- my $40 hot tools got it straighter than this! People look at it and think it's $40- soo not the case!I JUST found my perfect heat setting, but I get too many fly-aways from this iron the older it gets- I barely use it 2x a month! My iron isn't defective- it gets HOT, it does do nice curls and waves that last a little longer than usual, but it's not intended to stay super straight- my hair waves at the ends after a few minutes. It leaves my hair soft and moveable, but dry and gives me dents and creases very often. It's a decent iron, but it can't even straighten my mom's weird hair texture(at any temp.) - her natural hair is frizzy hot-roller-curls from the 80's! It just leaves it stiff, no matter what anyone(including hairstylists) uses(like biosilk, or chi products). For it to do miracles(on hard to straighten hair, besides my mom), you gotta use tons of product (just read some people's comments on the folica website- the AA's use at least 5 products (mostly)). An investment in a good iron is intended to LESSEN the product usage. This product is just cheap looking, cheap-made. Don't believe the hype. I did and years later I'm once again looking for something better! I give it 3 stars cuz it works for the most part. Hope I helped some people make a good decision - choose something better :)
Also, folica makes sedu(sorta), so they advertise like crazy- folica recommends sedu above all! And horrible customer service experiences - they didn't approve some of my comment reviews as well! Have a nice day!
