Customer Reviews of TheBalm StainiacCustomer Review: I've tried many and this is the best! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been a fan of Vincent Longo's gel stains for a long time but they appear to be discontinuing. So I tried Lorac, Laura Mercier, Tarte, Benetint, and Bourjois (sp?). As an older woman with golden toned skin, I can't take blue-based colors and I also look better with just a hint of color. Anything too dark ages me. Plus, I eat lipstick, gloss, etc. so I really need a stain for staying power. I couldn't find any good colors in the brands mentioned. Plus, they were either too watery making them difficult to use or dried too quickly leaving streaks. Many had containers that leaked. Ugh!
I figured Stainiac wouldn't be very good due to the mixed reviews and the inexpensive price. Well, sometimes you get better than you paid for! I wish I had tried this in the very beginning. Even better than Vincent Longo's! The color (Homecoming Queen, peach) is perfect for me. I use it on my cheeks and lips. No, it doesn't stay on my lips from morning to night (but neither did any of those other brands). But it does stay on from morning through lunch, needing just a touch-up after lunch. And then another touch-up after dinner. That's it! It stays on my cheeks all day.
I love it. I'm stocking up and hoping they never quit making it.
Customer Review: fool proof Summary: 5 Stars
After plucking up the courage to go up to those scary and brightly lit makeup counters to try THE cheek stain every magazine was raving about (the brand was Tarte) i was so dissapointed in the consistency and the application after all the good i had heard and for the price they were asking!!
By chance I happened upon Stainiac months later...and to my delight it was dead-easy to use (just remember to smile girls while you apply to position the colour more naturally on the apples of your cheeks) it didn't dry straight away so you had more time to blend blend blend and it looks so natural on your lips too! The best thing is it comes off when you wash your face, not just with water...and your cheeks look natural all day, not to mention those hint-of-berry lips! Gone are the lipstick and sticky gloss stains on the rim of your glass when you go out. Subtle and simple. Couldn't recommend it any higher! I am about to try the peach stain next.. what are you waiting for?
Customer Review: Works great with Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Summary: 4 Stars
I got this awhile ago because I'm always on the hunt for the perfect lip stain, and I like the dual purpose ones that also work as cheek stain. I'm fair with freckles, and I got the stainiac in Beauty Queen. It's the perfect color for me and looks great with a tan.
I found it works perfect with the too faced lip injection extreme. That lip plumper seems to make the edge of my lips stand out red, but not the same color as the rest. Using this stain underneath balances it all out and works really nicely together.
The stain has great staying power on cheeks, but not as much on lips. Just the stain alone is drying, so you need something over it and that makes it fade quicker. Either way, I think its great and would most likely repurchase it, as the price is cheap compared to others.
Customer Review: TheBalm Stainiac Summary: 5 Stars
After breaking the top on my beloved Benetint (and losing half of it to evaporation), I bought a cheaper (albeit smaller) and more portable stain (I loved the idea of the Benetint to go, but wasn't going to spend that much for a tiny amount of stain plus regular gloss) -- the Stainiac in Prom Queen. It's easier to apply than Benetint and lasts much longer on my lips. I haven't tried it as a cheek stain yet -- just got my NARS Orgasm, so I'm loving that blush -- but I will definitely continue to buy it. The price was very reasonable, too, compared to similar products. It's a small tube, but you don't use very much and it will last and last.
Customer Review: Not a huge fan Summary: 1 Stars
In all honesty I would go w/ a plumper and stain combo (if available) my bottom lip appeared to hold color ok but the top lip always made me look like I forgot to apply the rest. I went w/ Prom Queen but not a fan of the color for my skin tone. I wear a tan almost always and like corals on me, this just didn't look right for my complexion. All in all the drier parts of my lips didn't match the moister parts. Not a good wear.
Great idea though.
Returning it!
